shaving bumps

Here's the deal. I like to shave my pubic area and i love the way it looks and feels. but i hate the red bumps that develop a few hours after i shave. when i shave, i use mens shaving cream and shave up against the "grain" of the hair to get a real close shave. but when it starts growing back those annoying red bumps appear...is there anything any of you guys have tried that keeps the red bumps away?

I have never had that problem when I shave. I shave using women's shaving cream and then I use sea breeze after so there is no itching. Maybe this is why I have never had the bumps. Caution though if you have never used sea breese before it can sting the first time and only use alittle. A friend gave this for me to use and it really works.

First off, are you male or female? I suppose it doesn't matter either way. I used to shave w/ men's Edge gel. It worked better than "regular" shaving cream. (I think the gels create a thicker lather.) Now I use Skintimate gel. They have many formulas, etc., for all of yuor shaving needs. Recently I found one w/ sunflower oil that was specificly for sensitive skin in the under arm and bikini areas. :) This stuf really helps reduce razor burn and those lil red bumps.

Magic Powder

Okay, everyone waited for me to see this thread so that I would bring up the topic of Magic Powder/Lotion, right? Is my work never done?

See this old thread:

Forget shaving and join the ranks of the Magic Powder army! We're taking over the world, one bare pussy at a time. Or balls, depending on your particular anatomy.

The bumps are ingrown hairs and can be a real problem. The Magic powder Cheyenne suggests will prevent that.

Boohooo - no Magic in Germany

Or would anyone know about it? In Europe at all?

Or are any German/European ladies willing to share a secret as revolutionary as Magic but to be found on the continent?

Canada I'm sure has it. If I remember correctly, there is a Canadian address on the can. As for Germany, I'm not sure. Look in the section of the store with the shaving cream, probably a bottom shelf. The tube says it is formuled for black men. Hecate, if you can't find it let me know and I think I can arrange to mail some to you. (Maybe the start of that distributorship??? LOL)

Now I know why!! *lol*

This explains why it isn't found widely distributed here ... black men are just not a considerable market in Germany *g*

I'll give it another try and well - in the worst of cases I have now a perfect excuse for a trip to the US *g*

(((((Cheyenne))))) Thanks sweetie for offering - I serioulsy think I may take you up on that offer if I can't find anything "suitable" here ... I have a few more products to test but so far I was not satisfied with any of them.

Not a problem. Would be happy to do it. I already have to make a trip to the post office Saturday morning, so let me know if you want to skip the testing of the other products. Can't imagine they would be as good as Magic! Already have your name, just need an address to send it to. email it to me, I think you still have my email, too.

for the spur of the moment

I dry shave every time. Now before you wince in serious pain, let me just tell you how I avoid any after effects from this choice of shaving sans creams or lotions. I learned, as a dancer that you can shave those most sensitive areas and then apply CLEAR antipersperant GEL (any kind seems to do, scented or un-) to the newly shaved area. In doing so, you will not only get the same cooling sensation you get with the Sea Breeze or other alchol-based astringents, without ever having to go through the initiation of the stinging process that you will with them, you will stop the shave rashes and red bumps associated with bikini area shaving. Hope this helps.

That's the part that my wife hates as well. She is allso concerned about using chemicals powerful enough to desolve hair that close to eaisly inflamed tissue. Is magis powder hypo-allergenic?

It doesn't say that it is hypo-allergenic. I've found it to be gentler than regular hair removal products and haven't experienced any discomfort with it being that close to delicate tissue.

Bonnie..you can find it in Canada at Walmart. It's in the hair care aisle, where you would find the relaxers and other hair products for african-american women. They don't have the powder, only the cream, so you're looking for a green and white dispenser.

Also try bikinni zone after shaving it helps some but try the magic powder too.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Use a hair conditioner. Go to the store, and buy yourself a bottle of something like Suave, or Vo5.. When you use it as a shaving cream, it makes the hair softer when it goes back, and keeps the razor from truly irritating the skin.

what has worked for me this summer is

1. dry shave the balls
2. apply non-alcohol based after shave lotion or gel liberally
3. Stroke them regularly for rest of day so they feel loved
4. Don't immediately set off on a 30 mile bike ride; (it's like failing to take back-ups - you only do it once ... and I did...)

Cheyenne - is Magic permanent or repeatable? Only Mrs G ain't convinced about the new bare undercarriage so I can't go permanent yet ... also I don't think the UK has it either.
