A large crowd gathered in the Bund, Shanghai to celebrate the countdown from 2014 to 2015, then a stampede began, which seemed to have been caused by the dollar-like notes thrown out from the windows of a high building nearby. So far 35 people were killed, most of whom are young people.

Many Chinese netizens said, no zuo no die, meaning if you do not do things to cause your death you will not be dead.

terrible thing. the poor families must be in pieces.

one has to wonder at the intentions of the person/people who threw the notes: did they believe they were real and wanted to spread a little cheer? did they know they were fake and trying to get rid of them? was it designed (understanding human nature) as a decoy for other activities? who knows, but if someone wanted to dispose of a body, for example, then maybe.... as i said, who knows? we won't ever.
