Shameless self promotion from hell

Jesus (pardon that), 'fer. If you promise not to start another political thread for a week I will read your story.

Perdita :p

What an odd thread to start, on the Authors' Hangout!

(I'll try and read it tomorrow, when I've got some time to myself. ;) )

Deal. So pathetic.

Read it, posted my comment.

Thanks.

dear wishful,

I rather liked Captured so I guess it's time to read some of the Pawn.

Wait'll you see my Jip story:D

What's your Jip story?? Since we are all shameless here about self promotion! :D

Jip

Jip is the male protagonist of a story I wrote a while back, which somehow refuses to come back from the editors.

It's a kid who falls in love with a Haitian girl.

I ought to just post it, I think, but I have a real faith that a fresh pair of eyes can tell you when you have screwed something up.

Both the stories I have pending now were written since I sent the Jip story off to the editors.

But I like it.

Tatelou told me the orgasm scene was hot.

Very ambitious, but it's hard to write any sort of decent story without characters, and if I could offer some advice, I'd say: stay away from stories that have punchlines instead of endings. They always come across as jokes.

Hey wishful!

You can really write smoothly and well.

I wish your pacing was a bit faster, but your prose is fine and smooth, carries you along and can be expressive.

Pawn's okay.

I'm still reading it, but I thought I'd give you a wahoo.

Since we seem tobe heading there anyway, I think we should do this.

This will be the thread of shameless self promotion for when you want to get the opinions of other writers on your latest story or anything you've written recently. That way we will be all better people, etc. blah, blah, blah. Besides, asking for opinions on our stories's quality sort of is a major point of having an author's hangout. Anyway. Long story longer than it needs to be is:

I dub this the everyone Shameless self-promotion thread. Now everyone put up some stories.

I haven't posted anything since the Earth Day contest, but I just thought I'd share my pleasure. One of my stories, 27 months after posting, just topped the 1000 votes mark. It's only just over 1% of the views, but that's the way of things round here.

I don't want to be the old wet blanket, but there are already two threads for inviting comments on the Story Feedback board. One is "New Story Advertisements" where you can announce and promote your story, give a description or an intro to it, talk about what you're trying to do etc. and invite comments. And then there's the "I'll read yours..." thread where authors can exchange critiques.

If you want in-depth discussion of your story, there's the Story Discussion Circle board, where usually like a half-dozen authors will rake it over the coals, and if you just want feedback you can start a thread on the Feedback board.

A little dwarf that creeps up behind you late at night, reaches up under your skirt and shouts "BUMP!" as you jump!

:D

bg23, excuse summer, he's going through porn withdrawal. A bump merely keeps a thread from dying or going over to page 2, e.g., a reminder.
