"I was sent on contract, and you and your dad were the targets. I couldn't do it. Especially not to you. I don't know why, but something clicked when I saw you, and I couldn't. Since then I've never been able to do anything that would really endanger a woman or child. When I saw you being trailed, it clicked again and I knew it was the girl from those years ago. I started trying to protect you, and ended up falling for you," Ryan said, his head in his hands. He looked up and shrugged his shoulders, trying to relax a bit, hoping that he hadn't put Liria to sleep or scared her.
She listened as he spoke and smiled. Trying to figure all of this out she just listened and curled up not really scared almost curious even more stuff to have to talk to her father about later.
Ryan yawned then looked down at his watch. It was starting to get late, and he didn't want to intrude on Liria. He had done that enough already.
"Would you like me to go, or would you like to talk for a little bit longer?" he asked, hoping for the latter, but ok with the former. He wanted her to be happy, that was all.
We could talk more if you want you seem tired though.
She was not sure what she wanted and that did not sit well with her. She liked the company but did not know why. Normally she did not like dealing with people for long periods of time outside of work but he was strangely different.
What do you want to know you already know quite a bit.
She smiled trying to warm up to this idea of having even just a friend that was not work or military related. She was not sure how she felt about becoming so calm around him to the point her work was now on the couch ignored.
He smiled and shrugged. "Tell me whatever you think would interest me. Considering my feelings, that's whatever you want to tell me," he said smiling. He hadn't realized how tired he was. He was worried about falling asleep on the couch, or worse, slipping and falling into her lap. He didn't know how she would take that, and didn't want to make her skittish.
Not much to tell I have dad the team on the base and my work.
She laughed never really having thought much about it till now. Not even a pet to come home to just her here... it almost for a moment sounded strangely sad to her as she said it.
You know my choice in guns and disapprove and then there is this place but not much to it beyond a place to work.
"I don't disapprove of your choice of guns, just wanted you to be able to penetrate their body armor. I actually think the LadyHawk is great for personal protection. Packs enough punch, but won't go through the person," Ryan said, his eyes closing. He was fighting a losing battle though. He was really tired, and afraid to admit how comfortable he was next to her.
You look tired maybe you should crash on the couch not safe to be driving if you are overly tired.
Her mind was screaming what the hell did we just say... She jumped up quickly and pointed out the throw blanket on the back of the couch and quickly started darting around to put her stuff away.
Ryan grabbed her hand reflexively. "It's ok Liria. I'll grab some floor. That way you don't have to move anything," he said. He smiled and then laid down between the couch and table, relaxing and closing his eyes. He hoped he wasn't freaking her out, but didn't get to know as he quickly passed out. He didn't know it, but when he slept, all worry melted from his face, showing his true age.
She watched him for a moment still carefully and quietly putting her stuff away before heading to her room till morning and the timer on the coffee pot began to make the apartment fill with the scent of hot coffee.
Ryan slept surprisingly well, waking up before the coffee pot went off. He remembered from her routine when she usually got up, and started making breakfast for her, staying as quiet as possible. His timing seemed right on as he had a plate of eggs, bacon, and grapefruit in front of her when she woke up and came to sit at the table.
Ryan smiled and then shook his head. "You let me sleep here, so the least I can do is make you breakfast. And coffee for breakfast isn't good for you," he said as he sat down to eat with her. Even though she just got up, she still looked gorgeous.
Ryan smiled and then went to the bathroom before coming back out, his face slightly damp and his hair combed through. He smiled slightly to Liria then headed for the door.
He looked over his shoulder and then smiled again. "Let me know what you want when you for sure figure it out. Until then, I'll only be around if you want me to," he said, turning the door handle and opening it.
I... Yeah... you can come by whenever if I am going to get used to this idea and more relaxed about it maybe you should be around more often then just popping in when ever and vanishing ya know
She was not sure what to think or say and was really in a way rambling as she watched him.
Ryan closed the door and turned around before standing in front of Liria. He gently pulled her out of her chair and then kissed her softly, not pressing it into anything, just kissing her. He wasn't going to force it, but he had to see how she responded.
Her hand shaking moved to his cheek as she smiled slightly biting her lip. She then tried to lean closer to him only to find herself hugging him scared to death but unwilling to fully act on that fear.
