I write this knowing that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever, and there is nothing like a beautiful woman upon which one may rest his or her gaze; yet, while we, as a people, appreciate the natural beauty of a woman, does her complete beauty equate to complete desirability? Of this, I would have to answer no. Allow me to give a few examples.
As I write this, I think Camila Mendes (Veronica, Riverdale) is the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. In my opinion, she is damned near flawless insofar as looks are concerned. Saying this, however, I am more drawn to Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom) because I find her to be one of the sexiest women I have ever seen. What is the criteria for this? I haven't a clue. It all comes down to an "it" factor, I suppose, and whatever "it" is, Madelaine has "it."
Another example would be the actresses on Big Bang Theory. Kaley Cuoco (Penny) is a beautiful woman, yet I find myself more attracted to Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) because she has that same "it" factor, a sexiness that really cannot be explained.
Even to this day, I have always thought that Gillian Anderson (Scully, The X-Files) was sexier than any co-star who may have appeared on the show. In this case, it was her mind. I found Gillian intellectually stimulating. The same can be said about Scooby Doo's Velma vs. Daphne. Even on the cartoon, I was always attracted more to Velma even though Daphne was the bombshell.
I would choose Kelly Rowland over Beyoncé, Michelle Rodriguez over Jennifer Lopez, Michelle Yeoh over Lucy Liu. I appreciate the beauty of all these women, but for me, sexiness will always win out.
