I'm curious about women's preoccupation with men's hands. I know some women really get off on a man's hands, and I think this is a predilection that most men don't share.

Do you find hands sexy? What makes a hand sexy? Does it turn you on to have someone fondle/kiss/bite your hands &/or do you do the same to your lover?

---dr.M.

It's the thought of what men do with their hands that gets me, Dr Mab. Clean, well manicured fingernails go a long way to help with those daydreams. ;)

I look at a guys hands and if I see long, dextrous fingers, I like. It also has to do with the size of the hand when, erm... no, I can't bring myself to say it.

When I asked a former girlfriend what (if anything) in me she found (physically) attractive, her first words were "Well, it sure isn't your girlie hands."

I'm as curious as you Dr M. I find hands to be very uninterresting to look at. It's what you can do with your pair and what others can do unto you with their that can get my mojo ticking. Same thing with a tongue. It's a flap of muscle. But damn they can be fun!

Some women on the other hand seems to hand the whole attraction, eroticism and character of a fellow upon those eigth digits and two (hopefully) opposable thumbs.

Delightful topic!

I love a man's big strong hands.

To me that demonstrates strength, power, security, sexuality.

Of course, since my husband possesses those hand characteristics, I wonder if that has affected my choice.

Could be.

(But it is still arousing!)

I've always found certain hands very attractive, in both men and women. And yes, it is how they are used that may add the arousal element.

I love ballet dancer's hands, trained to move in space unlike an ordinary person's. They can be exquisitely articulate, make or break a mood. Also as articulate and long-trained: Kabuki actors. I daresay onnagata (the men who play female parts) probably have the most beautiful women's hands on earth.

My favorite hands in history are those of Glenn Gould, the genius pianist. Look at photographs of him, and there are many fine ones. He was obsessed with taking care of his hands. Before a concert he soaked them in very hot water for up to an hour. He wore gloves always, even in hot weather. He was bizarrely eccentric in many other ways too.

In 1971 I hitchhiked to Colorado and took a leg of the trip with two boys. The driver had the most beautiful hands after Gould. I can still recall them in my mind's eye.

If you want an easily accessible example, I am always aroused by Gauche's hand in his AV. (The cigarette adds to that for me.)

For any man, long fingers are always a plus, if as has been said, he uses them well.

I agree with EVERYTHING she said. Big strong hands are very sexy. In fact, I included that in my last story when describing a character...

But my strong attraction for him was always there – his mischievous expression, his green eyes, his trim body, his smell, his big hands, and his voice that has spoken many a dirty word to me at work as well as in my dreams.

I can recall sitting at my desk watching him go through his file cabinet and being turned on by watching his hands in action.

It's always seemed to me to be another case of different strokes for different folks - Although most women *do* like men's hands, they all seem to differ about why they like them

Some like big strong masculine hands. Some like artistic hands, dextrous and flexible. I have a guitarists's hands, although they're somewhat scarred from years of martial arts. Supple, strong and flexible with quick, precise fingers. They aren't particularly big hands, though, and neither are my fingers very long. But playing heavy metal for years at breakneck (for headbangers, almost literally) speed has given them lots of stamina.

On a related note, Dr. M - I think men do evaluate each other by their hands, but not by the look - by the handshake. I'd much rather deal with a man who can give a firm, strong dry confident handshake, than someone whose hand feels like you're shaking a wet fish.

I've never yet found ayone who likes cold clammy hands though ;)

Speaking of sexy hands in action, let's not forget the hands of a great artist.... working magic both on AND off the paper....
;)

I adore big, strong, manicured hands. They don't have to be buffed and polished or even callous-free, just neat and clean. Like the others before me, it's not really the appearance that turns me on, but the idea of what those warm palms and sensitive fingers would feel like as I purr under his caresses.

For a man to try to understand what a woman sees when she looks at a pair of hands is as silly as a woman trying to understand what a man sees when he looks at a pair of breasts. We're wired differently, for the most part, hence, we think differently. Where most men see the form, most women see the function.

Apples to oranges.

Big, but not fat

Personally, I like to see the tendons, muscles, and especially the veins in the hands and forearms. There's the whole strength thing. It's easy to imagine big, strong hands on my butt, lifting me and holding me against the wall for a stand-up fuck. Small or pudgy hands don't seem to put that image across so well, though they may be just as capable.
Plus, visible veins remind me of cock, which is always good. Just like a woman's lips or navel are supposed to subliminally remind men of pussy.
How would you guys feel if you met a woman who was otherwise attractive, but had big, angular man-hands? Might it not be a little of a turn-off? It's the flip side of that.
I hope I'm making at least some sense.

Taffy, you made much sense. That's a very good point about the veins, hadn't thought of that myself, but you're right.

I do not like big, strong hands. For me, big or strong has nothing to do with it. Nor do the fantasies of what they do to me. I like to look at them.

My type of hands - long fingers, flexible, lean fingers... I don't know how to describe it. They signify sensitivity to me.

Interestingly, even I thought about men and breasts when I was reading through this thread.

A question to women who like big, strong hands - does it have anything to do with feeling protected? What do those hands make you feel? (apart from the sexual aspect)

Icingsugar..I LOVE girly man hands!

My husband has been a computer geek since well conception probably...and he has very soft hands and i think they are wonderful! They look clean and new and sort of unused*L* I don't like the veiny look my self...or being able to see knuckles or other bones prominant...but then I'm a bit squemish when it comes to bones...

long fingers are wonderful....maybe we think about how far they can stretch into places.....hmmmm

oh and my own fingers are a turn on..not form a looking at point of view but ooooh to have my fingers sucked....oh yeah baby that is heavenly :)

ok now i need to go and find hubby....

*runs of flexing fingers and giggling*

I posted earlier that for me, big hands demonstrate strength, power, security, and sexuality. (Think firefighter or construction worker, tight-assed jeans, heavy toolbelt, rough-stubbled chin, hands are working hard, a bit dirty - *sigh*)

Oh! Where was I?

My husband is a muscular man (and a well-educated football coach) and his hands exude strength. Maybe the reason I'm attracted to that specific characteristic is because I adore him.

I am a musician, and I work with many other musicians: guitar players with those long, lean fingers, right hand with longer nails, perhaps; pianists with sturdy and graceful appendages, yet surprisingly powerful; temperamental vocalists with buffed nails - lol - it takes all kinds!

It's just a bit of the whole of a man.

Ten additional things that can be sucked and/or inserted.

What's so complicated about that?

Wow. Thank you. I was beginning to develop an inferiority complex here. ;)

Ah, yes, "unused". That's the perfect way to describe those keyboard tappers of mine. Which is pretty stange, considering I spent my whole childhood and early teens on a farm, shoveling manure, and handling horses and cows.

OTOH, I've also been told that they are expressive, good for gesturing. ?

Hand-ology seems to be a freakin science...

Rhino, I love Schiele! more than Klimt! Saw lots of him in Vienna a few years ago.

Thanks, Perdita

Hands are excellent. Penises are mighty fine.

Toes are okay.

Now, if we could just develop a man with a prehensile tail...
