soooooo we have finally caught up with the big kids ... we just bought a Playstation2 over the holidays... with DVD player ... yahooo ....

soooooo for the first time ever i am enjoying DVDs ... i know i am a wee bit slow .... lol ...

well once i got over the shock of everything being in widescreen version, i really started getting hooked ...

the "deleted scenes" in most dvds is awesome .... oh wow ... and the director's cut versions of some ...

have you seen the movie "Requium for a Dream"???? ... OMG ... it is my new fave movie ...

well the scene where Jennifer Connolly "performs" for the big black dealer and his friends <in exchange for heroin> was brutally edited in the film ... but in the DVD director's cut ... it is unbelievably hot ... in fact i can't stop thinking about that scene ... during sex too ... lol ...

these guys were crowded in a small crowded smoky room and when jennifer walked in, there were 3 other naked women ...

the guys sit around in a circle while the women fuck each other ... with strap ons ...

and they shout at them "hump hump hump" and "cum cum cum" ... and they throw dollar bills at them ... and feel them up .... it is soooooooo fucking kinky ....

<fanny myself frantically> ... but i digress ....

you know ... there must be lots of other dvds that have director's cuts of movies with hot sex scenes that were left on the editing room floor when we first saw them ....

know of any others?

WHEW!!!!!!!!

Wegmen's is just down the street. I think I'm gonna go rent that.

Um...the Director's cut of Baic Instinct is got only a few extra secs., but, it adds more to the scene with Jeanne Triplehorn and Douglas. Plus, the scene with him and Sharon adds an oral.

Hehe, well I can't say I know of any with deleted sex scenes. I did want to say that I am utterly addicted to DVDs now. All of the extras, deleted scenes, 'making-of' information, etc is fantasic.

I love DVDs. And the extra stuff is fantastic in most. Some of them are so fucking cheap, though. They don't give you anything interesting.

And what is with the ones that don't have captions for the hard of hearing? Geeze! I always have the captions on, otherwise I miss things. Sometimes the music is too loud to hear the dialog. Maybe I'm just gettin old. Heh.

But sex scenes, eh? Sadly, I'm not aware of any.

Huh...April. I don't want to make you sound like an idiot, but, you can watch ANY DVD in subtitles. Just hit the icon, and click English, and, BINGO!!!!!!! The movie will be in English subtitles.

... i never knew that either nasty ... but you know what? i find subtitles really distracting ...

i read this article that it is a marketing strategy now to put all these extras on the dvds ... that wasn't the case in the beginning ... so everyone that had their fave movie on dvd before now has to buy it again for the "extras" ... lol ... clever ...

hey also ... speaking of sex and dvds ...

b/f told me that they have porn movies on dvd now and that you can watch the same scenes of people having sex from different angles ... wow ... now that's technology ... lol ... i can't wait to see one ... ;)

Sorry to burst your bubble, Nasty. But not every DVD has subtitles. The vast majority do, but not all. I wish I could think of a title, but I can't. I was surprised when I found a couple like that.

Yeah, porn on DVD is cool. Too bad ours went missing. (at the store)

April,

Now that you mention it, you're right. I think of all my DVD's, all but 1 of them have subtitles. I'm sure I could find a few more. And, Isabella. I find subtitles distarcting, too. But, sometimes I think there necessary.

Caligula is one hell of a DVD to pick up. But make sure you get the unrated version. Back when it was 1st released it was an X movie.

:D

Most DVD's that are released by Paramount have really sucky special features. There are a couple of sites on the net that give reviews on DVD's.
My favorite is http://www.thedigitalbits.com
Another really cool feature on DVD's are easter eggs. These are hidden features some DVD's have. A good site for them is http://dvdreview.com
( You can tell I am a hard core DVD advocate )

DVD has made such an impact on the film industry. One of the first releases of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is so bad, they re-released it again. The first one came out before they perfected the compression of data on the discs. So half way into the movie, you had to get up and turn the disc over to finish watching the movie. Now they have discs that can hold the entire movie and also a different version of it too. In addition to the special features they pack in.
A good example of a jam packed DVD is The Abyss. This disc has so many special features that the total viewing time for the special features is longer than the movie itself. This has led to a marketing bonanza for the studios.
Take the movie The Mummy.

They released the movie on DVD with a few special features. Then they released the Collector's Edition. Now that they have The Mummy Returns out, and The Scorpion King coming, they will probably release again as part of a pack with more features than they had on the 1st one. So for the people who can not wait to see a movie on DVD and buy the movie when it first comes out, in order to get all the new features on the new discs, they have to either rent or buy the new edition. :(

One of the best companies I have found for special features is the Criterion Collection editions. They usually have 2 discs, one just with special features. One of the funniest movies I have seen that has great features in it is Shrek.

There is no way that VHS can compete with DVD's. A tape can only hold so much info due to size.

DVD has changed how we watch movies. For the better IMHO.
:D

Wegman's has the shittiest selection of VHS and DVD rentals I have ever seen in my entire life.

Yeah, but...

As long as they've got Requiem For A Dream, then, that's all I need. Jennifer Connolly & strap-ons. Killer combo.

I hate Wegmans. They don't sell the scented Oil I like anymore.

Jerks.

Of course, they -do- have my favorite shade of nail polish on Shopper's Club this week. And Wegmans sucks less than Tops.

Oh. I see how it is. Wegmen's doesn't have what you want. Well, that sucks. I think they ought to be condemed..:p :D Come to think of it, Walmart Doesn't sell Alcohol. I think I'll put in my 2 wks tommorrow.:) :p

aaaaaaaaaaaa .... Caliguala? with Malcolm McDowall? we have been looking for that movie <director's cut> for years .... on video before dvd ... the only place i saw it for sale was in Penthouse mag ... and it was expensive ... <once i convert to U.S. dollars and shipping / handling / customs charges, etc.> .... but i want to see it soooooooo bad .....

it's funny .... before i got the dvd player i never really understood why dvds were so much better than videos ....

oh hey the other thing i love about dvds is the "director's commentary" ... for instance i watched Bridget Jones's Diary (i love it - i can relate sooooooo much to Bridget lol) ... and then watched it again with the director's commentary ... wow you learn so much about the movie that way ... awesome for sure ...

and April ... you saw porn on dvd? were you able to see the sex scenes from different angles? any good titles you can recommend?

P.S.

ooops ... i just want to mention something about that Bridget Jones's Diary dvd and the director's commentary ...

in the movie there is a sex scene with Rene Zellweger and Hugh Grant and they wake up the next morning and she says to him with an evil grin "what you did was illegal in some places" .. . so at the time i thought she was referring to cunnilingus ...

but uh uh ... during the director's commentary, the director spoke of anal sex in that scene ....

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh ok now i get it .... ;)

so you see how important dvds really are ...

The director may have spoken of it, but, the question remains, did they show it?

Damn it Isabella, not fair. I thought you were going to tell me how to get sex movies with you starring on dvd.

Though I would settle for vieo, beta, anything.
Sigh

I find the blooper scenes to be the best part of some movies. While I didn't particularily like Toy Story 2 I love the blooper scenes. Yes, I know they are made up, but it's hysterical.

And has anyone seen the ones from Rush Hour 2? Hahaha......... They are filing a scene and his costar's cell phone rings. Then whoever it is wants to talk to Jackie when he finds out that he is right there.

But Isabelle, still want ones of you. please tell us where to find them.

no nasty ... they did not show anal sex in the dvd Bridget Jones's Diary ...

butttt .... it makes a difference to moi when i imagine what happened between the two characters ....

i would have missed that if i had not listened to the director's commentary ...

Merelan darling .... <big hugs and smooches>

soooooooooo nice to see ya .... hey we posted at exactly the same time ... down to the minute ...

... good vibes ... great minds think alike, n'est-ce pas, cherie?

a movie with moi? silly girl .... hee hee hee ... no one would want to see that ....

Want to bet on that honey?????? You will lose.
I can think of several people here that would pay to see the great Isabella at work/play.

Sure, the minds a wonderful thing, agreed. If nobody had an imagination, there would be no point to stories on this site.

As a uge DVD porn lover....

I just thought that I would add my two cents and answer some of these questions.

Porn on DVD is just like any other movie on DVD. Some have great extras some have absolutley zero. The best DVD's come from VIVID, WAVE, DIGITAL PLAY, just to name a few. They can contain, in addition to the featured movie.

- Blooper Reels- Which are usually just dialogue mishaps and what not. You can imagine if they added all of these that it would be longer than the film.

-Extra Scenes- Clips of scenes from other movies. They can be as shorts as 2 minutes long sometimes, but on your better DVD's they can be up to 15 minutes.

-Multiple Angles- During certain scenes a little logo will appear at the bottom of the screen and you hit the angle button on your DVD Remote and you'll get a different camera angle on the scene. So if a girl is going down on a guy, angle 1 might be from his p.o.v. while angle 2 will be from the side and angle 3 will be from behind the girl.

Photo Galleries, Previews of other movies, and Bios are pretty common on all disks. SOMETIMES you'll be lucky enough to find one that they have inserted an extra film in with the DVD. So you'll get two for the price of one.

And just a tip about buying Porn on DVD. If you go to an Adult Bookstore/Toy Shoppe you are likely to be fucked, and I am not talking about the good kind of fucked. They charge anywhere from $40 - $75 for new porn on DVD. Which is totally insane. If you have a Virgin Mega Store, or a Big DVD place nearby I would suggest going there first where you will find them at 1/2 that price.

Or if you really want the best deal I suggest you shop online. The BEST place I have found is http://AdultDVDEmpire.com You'll find them to be 50 to 755 cheaper than an Adult Store AND they offer Free Shipping! : ) and I am sure that for some of you you'll feel more comfy shopping at home.

As for reccomendations.. My favorite DVD's are.

Where the Boys Aren't 13
Plaything
Dreamquest

There are so many though.. :)

Anyway, hope I have been of help to some of you.
