There's a poll going on about smoking pot and writing. About half of people on that thread feel, as I do, that your power of judgement is reduced while stoned, and you might not produce such good work as you thought, after you "come down".
This reminds me of early LSD experimenters in the 60's (when it was still legal and largely confined to scientific community). In one filmed session, one of the volunteers suddenly stood up and announced that she understood everything -- everything there is to understand about existence, reality, life, death etc. So she wrote down the answer to the the question of existence on a piece of paper and sealed it in an envelope, to be opened after the drug had worn off.
When they had all come down, she solemnly opened the envelope and read out: "If I stand on my toes I can touch the ceiling."
So we might get a few false insights when high; it won't make us better writers, in my opinion.
Of course pot makes a lot of people enjoy sex more -- it's definitely an aphrodisiac of sorts -- but are people "better" at sex when high?
And for any of you who've dabbled in other chemicals, what about cocaine? LSD? amphetamines? alcohol?? (I know what it does to men, but some women can get pretty spicy when drunk).
I was given Viagra once by a colleague as a present to take on my wedding anniversary. It was very effective at what it's advertised for, but I don't think it made me "perform" better in the least. Actually the main thing I remember about it was having to leaning right over to pee.
