I know there are a lot of GLBT movies out there...and for me they're kind of like my bible.

I just finished watching The Incredibly True Adventures Of Two Girls In Love....a really sweet movie about two high school girls.

What are your favorites? Hits? Misses? Indie? Foreign?

I thought In & Out[ was a cute movie, but I don't really watch a lot of gay movies, I don't know why.

I like it. It's so much more than just 2 women having sex. It's well acted, well directed and it has drama and seduction. I'd be interested to know what you think.

Sounds good. I'll post about it after I watch it tonight.

Really? I hated that movie! The homophobic sprinklings in it made me too angry to finish.

I haven't had the time or the money to increase my LGBT movie collection... *sigh*

I didn't think there was really that much in there to get upset over. He's coming to terms with being gay, some homophobia is bound to be present.

And, frankly, I don't care if people are homophobic, some people don't like GLBT or feel uncomfortable around it, that's their perogative.

I have vague memories of the movie In & Out, but don't actually remember the plot or storyline.

I watched Desert Hearts. The beginning was dry and I had trouble staying focused. About 20 or 25 minutes in though, I started to really enjoy the movie. I have never in my life seen such an erotic, sensual love scene as the one between Cay and Vivian...I was absolutely blown away, no lie.

Overall I thought it was good, even without much closure at the end. Hell, it was 1959.

3 and 1/2 stars.:)

I agree...Patricia Charbeaux and Helen Shaver were great....a smoking hot love scene....well acted...erotic as hell.....and that it is a period piece made it that much better. I don't think there was any question that with the passion between these two, they would find away to get together. There should be more movies on this topic, this good.

There should be. It's extremely important to me that these movies become mainstream. It's a shame that in terms of our thinking, we're still incredibly close minded and backwards.

It was definitely a beautiful scene.

A good story with seduction is so much more erotic than porn.

billy's hollywood screen kiss
kiss me guido
trick and
ma vie en rose are must sees.

in and out was cute for a commercial movie about a man coming to grips with being gay.

Ooooo, thanks for the new titles, glam. Will see about downloading all of them.

Check out the movie Uncle Paul.

"It's In The Water", is a cheesy movie with a good underlining tale of a woman, Alex raised in a fictional, uppity Texas town. She has a country club life, and a fiancee to match. Then she runs into her high school best friend, Grace, when she is volunteering at an AIDS hospice. Long denied feelings emerge, and Alex's coming out unsettles the town.

Don't believe the "advertised" hook, that "hordes of gays and lesbians come out "of the closet" sending, intolerant residents go into a panic about the water supply. Unless you consider hoards to be Alex, her flaming friend, his lover, and Grace. Then there's the dick-between-his-legs friend, who attends gay-anonymous meetings, headed by the closet-queer pastor.

You'd have to be oblivious to really think that this movie is gayer than a church congregation with at least 60 members. But, it's worth owning, just for the tale between Alex and Grace.

I have loads of others. I'll think of some to review for you, Trini.

Sounds like an entertaining movie, if nothing else. I'll see if I can download it. Thanks!

Outwardly GLBT?

Why omit films that had heat, essence, core, that may have been hetero by generally hetero marketing standards but according to who was watching it, was not?

What is the criteria for a film to be GLBT?

If you feel a movie has a valid place in this thread, then please, start a discussion about whatever movies you think fit here. However, I started this thread specifically for GLBT films because I think it's a sorely neglected genre due to a societal stigma attached to such films, and because this is the GLBT forum, an appropriate place for such a thread. If you know some hetero films that have GLBT sub-themes or GLBT characters, great. List them. If you know films that have GLBT subtext or suggestions, again, list them. But straight het films? No thanks.

i could give you a better answer if i understood your question better.

try logo and logo online for lots of glbt movies. i just saw "all over the guy" and it was fantastic...you'll be able to find some good les~centric movies there.

and any large bookstore should have its own gay section...gives you access to some novels and stories with gay characters in the lead.

its going to be hard to track down but two comic books: volume four of the Legion of Super heroes (known as the "2995" era) and Shade the Changing man have lots of fantastic gay, lesbian bi and transgendered characters. If you have the time money and inclination I suggest looking them up.

British films...

"I Can't Think Straight" and "The World Unseen" are brilliant. Both movies have the same actresses in the lead roles, but they're worlds apart. They're fantastic.

And if you want something a little lighter, check out "Bitch Slap." Hilarious, hot, over-the-top fun with some lesbian action thrown in. With Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor as nuns! You can't go wrong with it. :D

"Imagine Me & You" is a favorite
"Saving Face"
"Better than Chocolate"
"Parting Glances"
"Boys in the Band"
"Broken Hearts Club"
"Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss"
"Longtime Companion"
"Milk"
"TransAmerica"
"Soldier's Girl" (true story - sad but a beautifully done film)
"If these walls could talk 2" (about lesbianism/gender; #1 is about Choice (pro/anti))
"Kissing Jessica Stein"

Yeah, those are the top movies coming to mind haha Some are sad, some are older....
