Serious talk - Money

I enjoy Literotica. I enjoy the number of views my stories get. I even enjoy the weird voting anomalies.

But the praise I would really like is cash - pounds, dollars, yen - I don't mind which. I'd frame the first dollar I make.

I've made money from my serious writing on boring technical subjects in real life but I'd like to make money from my fantasy writing as well. How?

Any suggestions on how to achieve a financial reward for writing erotica? No one would pay for "The Worst Chain Story Ever, Chapter 01" but who would pay for what?

I know some of us publish for money. Can they advise us how?

Even if I did start to make money I'd still write for Lit because it is a great place to be.

If you're writing for money, you'll find it more rewarding to skip erotica and move straight to smut, no doubt. People pay for porno.

Most people don't make much money if they ever do.

It's simple. Find a publisher and send them what they want to publish.

The devil, as ever, is in the detail. Most publishers have rules about things like format, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and subject matter that would make Hitler look like a benign advocate of laissez faire.

I hope Laurel won't mind me pointing you to a useful resource for writers. They have lots of calls for submissions if you click often enough.

The rules for writers attached are typical of most publishers. (I used an SF publisher because it is non-erotic and so I'm not advertising. I think I took their name out anyway.)
