Sequels or extra chapters?

It's Lit forums. The same information gets repeated over and over. It's not about whether or not you are making the same argument, it's about who gets to phrase that argument most eloquently.

Well, the thing is I hate it when someone who thinks he knows everything about everything is actually lecturing me on my own industry and business that I have actually worked in for 45 years as if they know it better than anyone one and I don't know a thing.

But that is what always happens when Mrs. Bramblethorn allows young Bramblethorn out to play.

Tragic actually. He still isn't old enough to know how to play well with others.

That's okay. One day maybe he will grow up and learn that he is in fact not the smartest guy in the room. There are in fact a whole lot of smart guys in this room and strutting around lecturing and correcting everyone on every thread is not a wining approach.

I have talked with Mrs. Bramblethorn about not letting him out to play, but she says, no, he needs his time outdoors.

So be it.

That's okay. He has to be back home for dinner at six and then go to the market for the morning milk.

Facebook

In too many cases comments on Facebook are made by ill informed people who can’t string correctly spelled words into a coherent sentence. The difference with Lit is very few comments are ill informed but they are all literate.

I really enjoyed the comments made by LAHomedog. When comments are made by someone who actually has the background to be able to talk expertly about the subject it’s always interesting. And informative. I had an interesting exchange with someone on Facebook a couple of years ago. At least it’s interesting to me.

The thread concerned dementia. Someone expressed views which showed he knew nothing about the subject and I responded correcting his misapprehensions. As a result of which he sarcastically asked what my qualifications were to correct him and still he blustered he was correct in his opinions. I told him I worked with patients, and had done so for years, with dementia ranging from the “I know I’ve got dementia because I can’t remember things” up to the ones who can’t remember what happened ten seconds ago. The work can be very demanding but is also very rewarding.

The next comment was aimed at him and made me smile. “Guess you shot yourself in the foot there. 😂.” Simple and to the point. As many of the best comments are.

For me sometimes I come up with characters and start one story and before I finish I come up with an idea that predates that story and actually sets up the one I started first. Or I'll finish one story and come up with an idea for a something similar and instead of starting new I'll check some previous stories and find one that the new idea is a natural followup.

I've come up with characters for one story that have more depth and they just naturally develop into something else in stories that come after the first. Then there are times writing a story when I really think this has more to follow and there's just nothing that fits.

I don't mind series or sequels just as long as they aren't quick copies and seem repetitive. I like to have story be able to stand on its' own whether you've read the first part(s) or think the story continues.
