I'm thinking of doing a Thanksgiving Special for a sequel to one of my stories. It will have the same main character, the same two female leads, and maybe a couple of new people along the way. While I am posting this to show that I am still alive I also had to wonder about something.

Are there any stories/characters that you have that are just begging for a sequel?

.Yes.

:p

Ok, well give a bit more detail then that.

My story Family Vacation, gets a lot of good reviews. I've been staying away from it mainly because I wanted to get out of the Incest/Taboo section. Now I figure that I am a whore for the numbers anyway so I'm going to dust off the characters, give the original 3 parts a read through and type something out for Turkey day. Now all I have to do is write it. :D

OK. Many of my stories have a "want to see the sequel" PC on them. Usually I take that as evidence that I've left the story right where I should have. I do have additional parts of my "Silas's Choice" stories ruminating in my mind, though, waiting to mature and find time to be written. Must say, these won't qualify now that I think of it, though. I plan to do prequels, not sequels--moving backward in time with them, trying to make them reveal more dimensions in the later, already posted, stories.

I am in the process of writing a second sequel (or 3rd chapter if you will) to my NC/R story "Coming Clean". I received several requests from readers for sequels, and they liked the characters.

It's always pleasant when the readers respond in such a fashion. :D

All of my stories have sequels started. I don't know if any of them are ever going to be finished though...

Sure. I still get emails telling me to get off my ass and write more 'sequels' to several of my stories.

My vampires.

I have four stories with both of them in planning stages. And, lemme count, eight of his past in my head.

I also have a sequel to The Gift I'm working on.

And I've two more sequels to Librarian. Those will eventually be welded into a novel.

If I ever get my interest in writing back.

None of my short stories have sequels, though one has parts. I'm not too interested in extending a story with sequels. Once I write "Finis" the story is done.

IMHO sequels are not often a good idea. The characters and plot have been taken to climax and resolution in the first story and it is hard to carry on at the same level.

There's a risk of becoming a bit like a soap opera.

I think there will be sequel(s) to my gay detective novel "Death on the Rhine." But detective stories beg for sequels anyway.

True, but my Tentacle series has always had a goal, which will take up to around nine or ten smaller stories, even though each of the small sotries is self contained with a beginning, middle, and end.

If only I could get myself to continue writing it...

Go for it. These are some of the best experiences in writing.

I haven't written anything of substance in over a year. I just can't seem to sit myself down and write anymore. Too much porn or something ;)

I have a couple of what might becalled "Picaresques" -- stories that don't really conclude an arc, although the episodes within them have come to an end (cum to an end, usually) Any of those could go into sequels. I have one started for "The Baroness's Boy"
I can start stories right now-- but not finish them, evidently.

Yes. Same with adventure stories like my Chase Cooder. I didn't want to change him too much over the course of the story.

On a further note, my sequel is being suspended until after NaNoWriMo :p
