Greetings everyone, I recently sent in a submission and it was sent back, I corrected the errors and resubmitted it. Unfortunately, it was sent back again, I have used both MS Word and Grammarly to fix any mistakes that were present in my story, but to no avail. I don't understand what I am doing wrong, I have read hundreds of stories on the website and there are some on here that are absolutely terrible with grammar. I just don't get it. Any suggestions? TIA

How many words is it? Can you post first few pages here?

You have no minors involved in anything sexual right?

What.'s the reason for rejection the second time around? If it's grammar and punctuation, you need to scrub through your text again, or try to find an editor to help. If it's something else, you need to address whatever it is.

Comparing your story to others on the site is pointless - they somehow got through on a bad day for the site editor, yours got bumped back on a good day. Focus on your content, not the rest.

What was the exact message it was sent back with?

You can't really share the text in the forum, but you can ask for someone to have a look through it as an editor.

It's not allowed to post more than three paragraphs of sample content, and if that is done, it should be in a thread over in the Editors's Forum.

Check your punctuation around dialogue. It's the most common grammar rejection there is. Make sure the punctuation for the line of dialogue is inside the quotation marks. It's really easy to miss, but for some reason, Laurel notices them.

I just had one rejected.

When I first started writing my first story was rejected 3 times. I wasn't using quotes properly. Since then I have published 86 stories without an issue. I have over 8000 followers.

I have had the story that was returned reviewed by 3 of the top authors on this site. We found a few typos, but nothing drastic. That should have got it rejected. I fixed those and resubmitted. Now we’ll see.
