I think the Flamenco is about as sensual as a dance can get. And I think Maria Pages is just amazing.

Anyone who has seen Riverdance should remember her passionate and very sensual 'Firedance.'

Now that I am back in FL. I very much would like to find someone who'd like to take flamenco classes with me!
I actually auditioned for Riverdance once. :) However, my training was in Clogging rather than traditional Irish Step, thus I was passed over for being "too loose."
ROFL... That's a phrase I never thought would be used in conjunction with my name.... Too tight, prudish even but "Loose" :eek: LOL...
 
A little bit about me. I love music and I love to dance. I have been fortunate to dance on and off most of my life. As a child I started with ballet here in Chicago as many small girls do. My father, being a musician opened a world of dance and music for me. His friend's wife had a flamenco school which I attended for a short period at age 6 until we moved to central Illinois. Luckily, there was a large Mexican population there and joined a performing Mexican folk dance troupe from ages 8 until 16, when we moved back the Chicago burbs. I went through some rough times as a teen and didn't dance again until in my early 30's. I fell in love with salsa music and started taking classes again. I kept thinking how my father, who had passed the year before was probably smiling. He had been a salsa musician for 40 years and would dance with me in house. Had a brief rekindling with flamenco when my daughter was little and then went to ballroom (latin) for a couple of years, but that really is a rich persons hobby. I decided to try belly dance when I hit 55 and love it. Am currently taking belly dance and joining a salsa class again this fall. I guess this was a long bit...sorry. :eek:

It would be fun with a friend, but the nice thing about flamenco, is that it is very often a solo dance. Do it! I would love to hear what you are learning. :D

You are right there is something about them that is almost primal about them. Let's not even mention how they are all SO good looking... I can easily imagine one of them and I having a very good time together. :rolleyes:

I took tap and ballet as a very young girl, but then spent most of my life feeling awkward and clumsy in my soft, curvy body. Marriage to a man who didn't want sex didn't help matters. :rolleyes:

Now that I am single, i am really enjoying the opportunity to try new activities and find outlets for my creative energies that i never had the chance to explore before. I recently joined a contra/English dance group, and am having a great time.

I was reminded of the Flamenco while watching Riverdance with my daughters, and googled classes in my area on a whim. What a pleasant surprise to discover that there is a class offered for beginning adults. :) If I can make it work, I'm hoping to start next week-- so excited! :nana:

OMG. It would be so fun! I would have to drive an hour into the city to take flamenco again and don't know if I have the heart to do that after work. At least my belly dance and salsa are closer.

The art of dance is so beautiful. I love how it can incite such many varying emotions. I Look forward to viewing some of the above posts. I learned Hawaiian dancing when I was younger. Did the whole grass skirt thing too. A bit scratchy! But I think that form of dance is also very sensual.

Yes, hadn't even thought of Hula/Hawaiian dance. That is why we need people like you with suggestions. I will look for pics and videos to post. Thanks!
 
Went to a party last Christmas, bunch of folks in a small apartment. My Hawai'ian friend tried to teach me the hula with a couch-ful of horny single men three feet in front of us. Shoulda seen the looks on their faces as we slowly rolled our hips and waved our arms around in the air-- we might as well have been naked. :D
