Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock blames 'pandemic of racism' for brother's drug conviction

Instead of mentioning the severity of Coleman's offence or the fact that he was a cop at the time he committed it, Sen. Warnock simply chalked the sentence up to a "pandemic of racism" in the system.

Sen. Raphael Warnock has publicly decried America's justice system for years, often citing the case of his half-brother Keith Coleman, who was sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking operation.

Instead of mentioning the severity of Coleman's offense or the fact that he was a cop at the time he committed it, Sen. Warnock simply chalked the sentence up to a "pandemic of racism" in the system

As the Washington Free Beacon reports, while Coleman was an officer with the Savannah Police Department in Georgia, he used his police powers and equipment to help facilitate a cross-border drug trafficking operation.

Between 1996 and 1997, Coleman is alleged to have received $46,000 for his role in the scheme, which involved the trafficking of 28.2kg of cocaine.

According to the Free Beacon, Coleman became a "ringleader" of sorts, and often threatened those with whom he dealt that he would use his police powers to throw them in jail if they failed to do what he told them.

First of all, a Google search finds nothing more recent than two years ago as far as the senator (who wasn't yet a senator then) commenting on his brother. Specifically, the occasion of that mention two years ago was the brother's release from prison, a perfectly valid time and reason for talking about him.

Secondly, it is only fair to ask, if Keith Coleman were white, would the sentence have been equally severe? We both know the answer is "probably not".

But klanguide HATES black people, isn't that reason enough? 31 of his kind were just busted.

I have never known an Oriental or a Hispanic who liked blacks. For economic reasons immigrants often need to live in or near black neighborhoods. They see what blacks are like. They do not feel guilty about it, only hostility.

Rather than blame their problems on racism, blacks should examine themselves.

I sincerely doubt that. What I do believe is that you've never discussed this topic with an Asian or Hispanic who told you s/he didn't dislike Blacks. That is quite different.

I'm white, my wife is Asian, and if either of us heard a person saying the things you say about Black people in here all the time, we would most likely just extricate ourselves from the conversation as quickly as possible - it's the only way things wouldn't get ugly. I can certainly imagine you misconstruing that reaction as agreement. But in that you would be very, very wrong.

You'd never have that because he has no friends and has demonstrated he's so far up his own ass, he'd ne er actually spend any time with other human beings of any race.

With Orientals and Hispanics I never broach the topic of Negroes. They express hostility for those people with no prompting from me.

Because you refuse to listen to those whose opinions anger you, you remain ignorant of popular opinions.

This is true. Further, black immigrants from Africa want nothing to do with American blacks either and the reasons are cultural.

Thomas Sowell's book, "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" goes into the history of how the American black culture came about and how that was aided and abetted by white liberals.

You mean "Uncle Tom" Sowell?

:p ;) ;)

Lol, someone hasn't ever heard of minimum sentencing guidelines. Guidelines which were created to PREVENT THIS SORT OF THING.

But apparently it's racist to give a black guy the same sentence a white guy would receive for the same crime. I'm not exactly sure why it's racist but that's what the Left keeps telling us.

He might have gotten that sentence because he was a cop at the time of the crime. The judge may have been sending a message as one might expect in such a case.

PS: His brother was released due to Covid and only served 22 years of that life sentence.

You know what? I believe this. I believe the kind of people you're likely to carry on a conversation with to that point would be the type to do just that.

I don't refuse to listen to them, I just call them on their bullshit and bigotry. That is quite different.

Oh, I've heard of them. I've also heard of how they, like most everything else about the criminal justice system, can be weaponized against certain people.

No, that is not what the left keeps telling you. It's what you choose to hear.

Is it "bullshit and bigotry" to draw attention to racial differences in average IQ and rates of crime and illegitimacy?

Yes. All the way. There are very few things in the world more cringy than that.
Thomas Jefferson said, "There is not a truth existing which I fear... or would wish unknown to the whole world."

Why do you fear the truth? Political policies based on opinions about human being fail and have harmful effects.

Yes, especially the way you approach it.

I might ask you the same question, the way you always try to twist any criticism of your views into an attack on the truth when it's not that at all.
What have I said that is not not true?

Facts and reality are WACIST!!!! Got damn WHITEY is responsible for all the woes in the world including POC's bad life choices!!! Men can get pregnant!!!!

LOL and you sjw idiots wonder why nobody but your other cult members takes you idiots even remotely seriously.

I've already answered that repeatedly. If it didn't register with you then, it won't now either.
You have no answer, because I have not said anything that is untrue. You think it is immoral to express certain truths. I think the truth always matters.

I've lost count of the number of times I've explained this, but what's one more time...the issue isn't whether or not your claims are true, it's your professed reasons why they're true (if they are). That is what's not true: it's your opinion, and a more than a little bit racist opinion.
You think it is immoral to express certain truths.
No I don't; I think it is immoral to pass off one's opinion as the truth. They are two very different things.
I think the truth always matters.
Then you ought to be open to the possibility that your opinions as to why things are true may be - wait for it - not true.

Yes you do, you just call any facts you don't like "misinformation" or an "opinion" so you can dismiss it for partisan reasons.

Partisan hacks gotta hack.

Then you ought to be open to the possibility that your opinions as to why things are true may be - wait for it - not true.
Sure.... as soon as you have something other than "THAT'S WACIST!!! GOOD COMRADES OF THE RANIBOW COLORED HAMMER AND SICKLE NO LIKEY!!! " to refute them.

And that's where YDB95 realized he just got totally fucking destroyed...... again.
