senate votes to remove confederate names from military bases

Some American Indian tribes owned black slaves.

That's very true. For example, both the Creek and Seminole Indian Tribes owned black slaves. There have been lawsuits filed on behalf of blacks regarding their status (landholdings, voting rights, etc.) in those nations.

Native American tribes enslaved each other and sold each other as slaves going back to the 1500s. Estimates have been between 2 to 4 million Indians (indigenous people) were enslaved. No one knows how far back native tribes were enslaving each other but it went back many centuries. For the most part, of course, there are no paperwork in the native-to-native enslavement, obviously, but there are some paper trails historians have found regarding Europeans enslaving blacks and native people.

The French, Spanish, and English were all heavily involved in the slave trade of natives/Indians. Columbus was definitely involved in the slave trade. He sent natives back to Europe, in fact. Columbus changed the world but he was basically a major douchebag.

Slavery has always existed and still does today.

Whatever skin color or race or ethnicity or time in history or whatever else may apply to any specific example is vastly secondary at very best to the fact that a slave is a slave.

This is true. Humans of all skin colors have enslaved each other for thousands of years for many different reasons: labor [obviously], war, population replenishment, servants, sex, trade/commerce, etc.

Every continent (except probably Antarctica) has been the scene of hundreds or thousands of years of human slavery.

Here you go Lace: LINK

This is turning into a masterclass of political theater thanks to Senator Elizabeth Warren. She sponsored the legislation in the annual Defense appropriation bill, and forced a comittee vote on the record. Several Republicans on the committee are vulnerable this election cycle, and voting against removing Confederate names would basically forfeit any chance of receiving minority votes. It looked like a no-brainer to vote for removing Confederate names, but the whackadoodle right wing loves treason and is having a hissy fit over the vote (even though the vast majority of the whackadoodle right never served in uniform).

Nice try and not surprising how quick you rush to white knight for butters considering how she lets you skate with your racist banter towards others.

But your link simply says a Senate "panel" voted, not the Senate itself as butters thread titles states. I was already aware a Senate committee voted on the issue.

Maybe try a little harder this time to back up butters assertion while sticking your nose further up her butt so she keeps letting your racism skate?

Oh Lace, you know so little of Murican politics.

I'm pretty sure the "bitter civil war" had been over for quite a while by the time WW1 ended.

Bitterness over civil wars can last generations as many, many countries know. Some survived intact while others did not.

Bitterness over war can last for centuries.

Humans hold grudges and demonstrate ongoing hatred as easily as they display honor and dignity.

Cherokee as well.

Damn, that's a nice concise summary of Republican talking points, in game form, no less.

That's a compilation of AJ and Vetteman quotes over the years...I think Ishmael might have contributed the Stevie Wonder square.

And we slaughtered them too.

Yes. The United States absolutely slaughtered native, indigenous people. Whites and Blacks did that trick. It was ugly and brutal. Shameful.

Native tribes slaughtered each other for centuries. Wars were fought for territory and power long before Europeans or aliens arrived. Slavery was a part of the tribal lifestyle and ecosystem.

The "peaceful" Indian myth was, just that, a myth. There was peace, of course. And there was war. Human beings at their best and worst.

There were civilizations in "north america" even before the native tribes were in power. Theories about what happened to those civilizations are interesting. Did they move out or were they slaughtered? Or die of disease or...?

That's RACIST!!!

Only white people are evil, now toe the 'progressive' line and say it or you're a Nazi!!!

There's one for BOBO Bingo

Oh, God, Bobo Bingo would be hilarious, because he repeats the same damned talking points over and over again.

This Bingo tendency demonstrates a trend among Deplorables, who tend to dwell on talking points for either propaganda purposes or just because they are primarily habitual in nature.

False equivalency?

Yes.

Both are racist losers.

You have to boil it down to that level of simplicity to get commonality between the two as that's just about all they and their causes have in common.

The only difference is that our country still celebrates them.

There are many books with tens of thousands of pages in differences, so no...you're objectively and rather blatantly wrong about that.

So you agree that I was 100% correct in my post.
