The lady who does my taxes asked me if I bought anything online last year. I asked her if I said no, would anyone look into it? She said no. So I went with that.

I'm surprised that it has taken this long.

Friggin' Reps and Dems going for every friggin' drop in the turnip...

...too bad the Sons of Liberty aren't around anymore to throw the insatiably greedy denizens of Capitol Hill overboard.

[Disclaimer: I possess no tools with which to purchase anything online...

...so I don't.]

So if existing tax law is actually enforced then you think it's a new tax proposal? What happened to the "no new laws, just enforce the ones we have" line?

I expect the tax to change buying habits in ways the pols don't expect, and produce unintended consequences.

WALMART's behind the tax, becuz 'no tax' benefits Amazon. I already switched from buying books from Amazon, to buying books from the local thrift stores and library used-sale (they have a used book store). So I pay the sales tax and save the USPS fees. The big loser will be USPS.

They become apt to take because they wish to spend and cannot do this easily; for their possessions soon run short. Thus they are forced to provide means from some other source. At the same time, because they care nothing for honor, they take recklessly and from any source.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. We discussed the topic during the Bush years from time to time and most on the Left liked getting their free stuff, but I am wondering that if now, now that Obama has endorsed the taxation, if it will suddenly become popular...

Did anyone see the article about the cost of the free phones?

More Obama taxes mean more Obama money.

"Why are you here?"

"To get some money."

"What kind of money?"

"Obama money."

"Where's it coming from?

"Obama."

"And where did Obama get it?"

"I don't know... his stash, I don't know. I don't know where he got it from, but he's givin' it t'us to help us. We love him. That's why we voted for him... Obama! Obama!"

Mm-Mm, That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

That's what I voted for!
6 TIMES!

In a Socialist Oligarchy, all of the big players will tend to support all measures of taxation and regulation in order to remain favored players who can game the system towards their own self-interests...

Hater! Obama don't need tax money when he got a printing press. The tax is to take the 1% down a notch. Poor Obama, as fast as he can print money for the 99% the 1% grab it.

Sure they are. Bezos will collect the tax but wont remit it for 10 years, according to the deals he's made.

According to a thing on the news, Amazon feels it will disadvantage their competitors much more than them, giving them an edge.
