Self-trampling self-referential thread

Okay, the Python reference makes it make sense.

But you may just have to bow down to the fact that right here in the AH the bestest most sublime writers ever dwell. I only know that because they tell us all the time. '
One here has used the word sublime about their own work, but then again that poster is also known to talk about the size of their dick.
What doe you have against sublime? Do you prefer domlime? Domlemon perhaps?

I think Domlime sounds pretty intense.

(This is what the AI Generator gave me, based on my inputs)

Why wouldn't you shamelessly self promote? Why else do you post if not to spruik yourself? Are you telling me you've never done that?

It's the "shameless" self-promotion while pretending not to be promoting. Instead of just advertising in the "recently posted" thread they have to do it as if it's casual conversation. It's nothing more than hiding from their own ego.

So what? What's wrong with it? Nobody should feel shame for wanting to promote their work. I think that's one of the legitimate purposes of this forum.

Like I already said, there are threads like the "recently posted" thread where self-promotion is expected. I'm talking about the self-promotion that is disguised as writing discussion. That sort of promotion just makes me roll my eyes whenever I see it.

My most recent story, "Quivering Quill", is based on a writer that is constantly talking about his latest story.

Yeah, I'm not good at it either. I usually roll snake eyes.

Comshaw

Case by case basis, of course (and some really do abuse the privilege) but I'm at least more ok with it than those who dump unending story concept dumps and get argumentative when the post turns to the inevitable which is the author needs to write the thing in order to work through the thing.

I've gotten some incredible advice from the AH over the years but only when I used to knowledge to help me see a different angle on how to unknot the trouble.

Some posters really seem like they expect the whole of it can be ironed out by others in post then bolted on, finished, to their story.

It's... odd.

Self referential. Get it? It's like Monty Python's Argument Clinic. "I'd like an argument, please." "No you wouldn't."
Which in turns reminds me of the pre-Python "Memory Sketch" that John Cleese and Eric Idle re-enacted during a show. Look it up, it's really good! Though to be honest: I can't really remember well what it's about.

There's also this thread designed to promote.

In the end, your story-and story file-should speak for itself.

The thing about doing it here is few care. Most here don't have time-or maybe more accurately the inclination to read another person's story, and if another responds to their post about their story with "Oh, yeah I did that in..."

Enough about me, let's talk about you. What do you think about me?

I think talking about a story here is like that old experiment where they put a bunch of people who all thought they were Jesus in the same room to see if they'd argue. Instead they were all "Hi, I'm Jesus" and were all just convinced they were the real deal and talked over each other.

One last observation is people are a lot more likely to brag about their story here, then to offer it up in the feedback forum to take some criticism.
