Those wacky Taliban folks in Afghanistan apparently aren't satisfied with just blowing up archeological treasures, supporting terrorism and oppressing women, now there taking a page out of the Nazi playbook.

Henceforth all Hindu citizens of Afghanistan will be forced to wear a badge on their clothing that identifies them as such. Further, Hindu women must conform to the dress standards imposed by muslim/Taliban law.

The only answer for the plight of these people is for the world to be aware and for people like you and me to register our disgust at this sort of treat and to lobby our goverments in the vain hope that they can in some way influence the workings of another goverment. Perhaps if enough people and enough contries make thier views and thier horror know it might make some small difference. but unless the ordinary person is willing to stand up and voice thier opinion then nothing however small will change.

Like I said earlier, India will not stand for an Afghan holocaust. There will be war. If the Afghans do not back down war will happen. It will then be a true disaster. To get to Afghanistan, India has to cross Pakistan, if they do that it will be nuclear war.

Some men and women seek to dominate others using any tool possible. Some use religion, true, but others use different tools. Northern Ireland was never a religious conflict. It is political, which group will dominate the other. Look behind what countries say is religious motivation and you will find other reasons generally. Hitler did not need religion to do to the Jews what Afghanistan is doing to the Hindus. But they aretwo sides of the same coin. It is unfortunate that they invoke the name of God, Yahweh, or Allah for such base human things

Rambling why do we almost ngree but not quite,
religion is the excuse, it is some where to lay the blame,
as for norhten Irland that did not start off really relgious it started with the Irish being oppressed by the english and basically fighting to be treated like human beings.(much too complex to go into all the history) however because most of the english were protestant and the Irish catholics it has over the years become more and mire sectarian.

CH if it makes you feel any better, every Muslim I have met to date has been what I call "Good People". I am the exception, but that is what America is about, exceptions.

BTW my friend Abdul Azziz who is like a super Muslim, one who prays 5 times a day, has been to Mecca, and wears white on every Friday is the kindest man I have ever met. He would give anyone the shirt off his back if he thought they were cold and he makes the best scented oils I can get my hands on.

Just a few qualifier's. I was not HOPING for India to vaporize Kabul. My experience with Muslims (outside of the Balkans, where there were few positive experiences with anyone) has been very positive.

If you take a look at MSNBC's news today there are a couple of relevant articles. The most significant fact in them is that there are only fifty to sixty thousand Taliban (which incidently means "student of Islam") members.

I don't see India getting particularly excited about the imposition of Sharia laws in Bangladesh but I don't see them sitting idly by if the Taliban take the next "logical" step. This has a potential to be a freakin' mess.

Since China has determined the U.S. to be the enemy, India has been making very strong overtures to the U.S. Will they want to drag us in? I would argue, absolutely!

But it does make sense. I saw it on some news page, World, something or other, but a Sino-Russian alliance has made the world's largest democracy a bit nervous as it does me. On the other hand, can we really rely on any alliance, treaty, or sworn loyalty in this, or any other day and age. Our word, our bond, our chop, our handshake, what do they mean anymore?

My understanding is that the Russians fear the Chinese more than anyone, and with good cause. Its no great secret that the Chinese covet the vast natural resources of Siberia. Additionally the cash strapped and rusting Russian military has very little ability, short of a nuclear exchange, to stop them. An imbalance of conventional military power that is becoming ever greater as the Russian military weakens and Chinese forces continue to grow and modernize.
