First of all, I apologize if this is the "wrong" board but I don't see this thread as a "story idea" since I'm seeking feedback and opinions from the readers and writers of the L&T category. It seems like there are other threads here that are not "please give me feedback on my new story?" :)

For a while, now, I've been thinking of writing up a silly, sexy little series of "transcripts" written like an instant message log. (Title to be: Slut Wife Cybers and her screen name being either SlutWifeCybers or SlutWifeBegs. ;))

I've read some submissions in the category (turns out more "letters" than "IM transcripts" after opening the tales!) and was wondering if it was a popular genre here?

If you are a reader in that category, do you enjoy stories written like an "IM transcript" or do you prefer/read only the submissions written out like a letter?

If you are an author that writes for that category, which do you prefer?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!! :D

I have just one in that category, written something like three years ago. I don't believe it's a popular category, possibly because it's very much like a story written in second person POV. I've read some very nice ones, but they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

I think Cloudy's right.

Leters and transcripts is a minority category and readers seem to look for serious emotion. I'm not sure a story based on ephemeral IM would go down well there.

As Cloudy said, the immediacy and inevitable face-to-face of IM doesn't fit well into stories. The implied second person POV is a great turn off.

If you've got a good IM idea, take some time and turn it into a story to fit this medium. IM isn't bad, it is just more face to face than a post on lit.

Thank you, both, for the input so far...but now it leaves me with a question. :) What does the "transcripts" in the category stand for then?

Smartypants. :p Transcripts, that is the writing down of spoken conversations, interviews and suchlike, is what this category includes. IM conversations are perfectly suited to be posted here, but . . .

What Cloudy and I were trying to say was that transcript-type posts don't work very well, usually, with the readership. In a story you want to be in the action and with a transcript you are really looking through a window with all the 'I' and 'you' stuff.

Also, as I know only too well, IM stuff that seemed pretty fantastic at the time can be pretty excruciating (for many reasons) when you revisit it in the cold light of day.

Not saying don't, just be realistic about the level of reaction
