Size of the story: Approximately 4100 words. This may be a tad inaccurate, though; I started counting the words but lost count after the first few paragraphs. Thus, I decided to take the easy way out and counted the individual characters, then divided that number by the average word length of 5.7. Righto.
Abstract: Young woman returns to her childhood sanctuary, and to the unique creature living there.
What is requested:
Firstly, I paid attention during junior high English class, so spelling, punctuation, grammar, and mechanics should require minor work if any. I am primarily seeking critique on the plot and the "flow" of the story. I would like someone to tell me if anything seems to be missing, or if there is something that would enrich it. I am male and the protagonist female, so I would prefer to get the input of someone who could more easily identify with her (read: a female editor), to ensure that she is a believable character, but if another fellow wants to take a shot at it, I would oblige nonetheless.
