Seeking a writing partner

Hi, fellow writers!

I'm looking for someone to collaborate with on short erotic fiction. I've been a writer all my life, and have a few published works under my belt (one through a small press, the rest self-published), but I've gotten away from it in recent years for a number of reasons. This past December, I lost my wife to an unexpected illness, prompting me to re-evaluate my life goals and priorities going forward. After much soul searching, I've come to the conclusion that if I'm ever going to pursue writing erotica as a career, I need to stop procrastinating and start doing it!

I don't want to get into my whole life story, or work out the specifics of a potential partnership, here in this thread. If you want to hear more about me & my proposal, please message me directly. But there are a few things you should know up front.

First, my tastes in erotica lean more toward the more explicit, XXX film/video-style prose than the more literary variety. I'm a straight male, and it's my intention to write erotic stories which appeal to men as well as women. This doesn't mean I don't care about quality; I want to write stories which grab the reader and never let him or her go! It just means that if given the choice between reading a well-written Penthouse Forum letter or D.H. Lawrence, I'll choose the former 9 times out of 10. If you aren't interested in writing down & dirty, our writing styles likely won't mesh.

Second, what I'm looking for in a partner is someone who holds me accountable to deadlines, works quickly, stays in regular contact with me during our collaboration, and will give me constructive advice on how what I've written can be better without allowing differences of opinion on that subject to break up the partnership. That is exactly what I intend to be for my partner, too. So if you have the urge to write erotica but aren't greatest self-motivator, this might be a good arrangement for you.

Hope to hear from someone here soon!

what would be the nature of a collaboration? I mean, the end result is a story, right. If so, who's writing what?
It's not a really good idea usually when two people write parts of the story.

I envision my partner & I brainstorming ideas for stories, then each of us selecting an idea we'd like to write. I write one, my partner writes another, simultaneously. At regular intervals, we check back in with each other to see how it's coming along, proof the other's story, and offer suggestions as to how their story might be better. That way two stories are getting written & edited at the same time. Once those two are done, we go back to the list or have another brainstorming session, select two new ideas, and repeat the process. This arrangement will give both writers deadlines & someone to whom they are accountable, and build up a significant body of work in a relatively short period of time.

I really don't see any benefit in what you are suggesting, and only see downsides.

All of my ideas are pretty much something that I want to write myself, exactly as I envision it. I'm sure most authors are the same. Why should I share them? Also, reading the story ideas forum, I find that very rarely I can see other people's ideas as worthwhile, and even then I would change a lot of things.
Sharing ideas is not something that I'd be interested in - in any form.

Having someone else to read/criticize your story - first of all, it shouldn't be done half way through, while the story is still in development. By the time you finish your story, you will think of many ways to change and tweak your beginning, and then it will need to be proofread/criticized again.
Secondly - a good beta reader or copy editor will do the job better than another author, who is writing stuff himself at the same time.

As for copyediting/criticizing your partner's story - this seems more like a hindrance than a benefit. It will distract me from my own story. And it will waste my time on something that essentially doesn't bring me closer to my goal at all.
