I had been dragged out of the house and to a nearby bar by a friend of mine. "You cant spend all your time on that damn computer,"Diane said to me,"You have to come with Bob and me. It will be good for you to get away from that screen before you get eye strain."
She was right, of course, but I had been pretty much house bound since my break up with Allen. I had really thought that this was the time when I had met Mr. Right. Obviously I was wrong as I found out when 'Mr. Right' ran off with 'Miss Breast Implants'. I didnt need to go out really since I had a business that I ran at home on my computer but finally Diane had had enough and forcibly dragged me out of the house and to the bar a few blocks away.
I sulked around for the first hour and a half but Diane's infectious attitude and a few beers helped to get my mind on other things besides hacking into Allen's computer and introducing a virus that shut his system down whenever he typed in the name of his bimbo chick.
Pretty soon I was even enjoying a game of pool and beating the pants off of some guy that had made a comment about girls and the inability to shoot pool. Of course it helped that his eyes were mostly on my tight jeans and what was pushing up my belly shirt.
Suddenly, I heard a voice behind me call my name and I turned toward it. I narrowed my eyes a bit trying to think who it was. The face was familiar but I just couldnt place....OMG...it couldnt be!
"Mike?,"I said with surprise in my voice,"My god, its been...well ages since I have seen you." Giving my pool stick to Bob to finish the last shot, I walked over to him and ordered another beer from the bartender. "How have you been?,"I turned to look at him as I leaned against the bar,"What have you been up to since I saw you last?"

I smiled and accepted the bottle of beer from the bar tender, laying my money on the bar for him to pick up. "Well, that shortens it up alright. You always were straight and to the point. Not much happening my way. I have my own home business, still single and probably will be for a long time judging by my taste in men and simply hanging out with some buddies." I nodded my head toward Diane and Bob who were collecting the bet money from a very disgruntled loser at the pool table. I knew they would tuck my part away and I would get it later. Right now I was interested in continuing my conversation.
"So what brings you to this part of town? Business or pleasure and are you staying long?"

After that dance, a slow song came on and, with a smile, he pulled me in to dance that one too. It was weird feeling his arms around me. I mean, we had always been friends and I had had a crush on him years ago but nothing had ever come from it. I looked over at where Diane and Bob were sitting at a booth making out-oblivious to all the stares they were getting. They obviously wouldnt miss me. I did think to leave a note with the bartender before we left. My instructions were to give it to them when they either stopped hanging on each other or started asking where I was.
Hooking my arm into Mike's we exited the bar. As the cool night air rushed up to meet us, I looked up to him. "I didnt drive. I came with my friends. I hope you have a car and know exactly where we're going."

I made immediately for the bar and mixed us drinks. I could tell by my trembling hands that I really did need this. Handing Mike his, I sat down on my couch, kicked off my shoes and took a drink. Closing my eyes, I tried to let the night's terror drain from mind as I shivered with the heat of the liquor.
