I saw the Secretary on Oxygen a week or so ago, and it was on again a few days ago. I didn't see it when it was uncut, and I'm sure this version has been cut, but it does show some things I didn't really think it would show.

But, it's interesting that Oxygen is showing it, because that is a network that is centered around the woman's vantage point, I think. So, am I to believe this was/is a popular situation for women's fantasies? The boss that takes charge in this way?

By the way, I found the secretary (Maggie Gyllenhaal) quite sexy. I love her facial expressions and her um...drive. Actually, I think I'm in love.

I also thought James Spader was good, and I don't usually like him. I think I don't watch "Boston Legal" because of him. Oh, it could be William Shatner, too. There was a movie I saw Spader in called "Stargate", and I liked his acting there. I guess there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way...not his fault, mine.

I know this movie has been talked about already, but I just thought it was interesting that Oxygen picked it up. I was under the impression it was a dark horse. Maybe I'm wrong. I did notice it got high ratings.

A LOT of women love this movie. Seriously.

My wife isn't exactly a submissive, but she adores it. She bought it, in fact.

They ran it again?? Crap..

I missed the first hour of the first run. Its on my Amazon wish list.

I love it and have it on dvd.

It was my first taster in terms of a movie about a D/s relationship and I think I found it particularly pleasing because its a love story and I'm a romantic kinda gal ;)

I showed it to my friend and she didn't like it at all, I guess because she didn't really 'get' it.

Pfft. She's obviously a prude.

*grins* it was around the time I told her I was a sub and she got really hung up on the scene at the end where she is in the bath and he is bathing her.

She kept saying...'but you wouldn't want to be washed right? you wouldn't want to be washed?' Lol

Actually I would. I loved that scene....I thought it was beautiful

LOL then obviously she didn't get it.

Pampering a sub can be a beautiful thing. Just one way of showing appreciation... love, whatever. And personally I LOVE to wash a woman's hair.

*nods* thats why I loved that scene and the way he cared for her after she had proved her devotion to him.

I love having my hair played with or washed :)

*giggles* You can ask Daddy, that scene is my all time favorite scene of that movie, i will sometimes put the DVD in and choose the scene right before that one and just watch that part. i LOVE It. i love the whole movie really, but there is just something about that part after she proves her loyalty to Him and the way He picks her up and carries her and then puts her in the tub and washes her *sighs* and of course i also like the end where she puts the bug on the perfectly made bed *giggles* Daddy says that is SO me :D

I'm a freak to the core, but I hate that damn movie, LOL. The way it depicts the sub as someone with a mental illness whom only big, strong Domly man can solve makes me feel mildly nauseated. Every kinky person in the world is not fucked up in the head, contrary to popular belief.

I loved her grin when she did that..

yeah I agree to an extent. I thought it was disappointing that they dipicted her in that way, as to critics of BDSM it could be seen as her swapping one form of abuse for another. Though I didn't interpret the rest of it negatively. I didn't see it so much as her only being able to be saved by the Dom, but rather that through the D/s relationship they found another outlet for the pent emotions that caused her to harm.

Thank you for the pressie. Shouldn't that be prezzie? Maybe not. When I saw the post, I first thought about press on nails, for some reason. LOL.

There are quite a few videos about the movie on YouTube, aren't there. Oh, and that woman in the pic wearing the saddle? I've seen her in several different videos, but always in some sort of pony wear. I've seen her fucked with a strap-on forced to pull a cart, and her ass flogged while tied bending over. She has a very NICE ass, by the way. But, I digress.

And, in still another digression, but this is my thread so I can...looking back at the thread title, I just noticed something. I wonder how many of you came in thinking there was some secretary on life support. LOL.

My pleasure DVS , re the prezzie .

I was half asleep when I logged in and was thinking it was something perhaps a little more sinister than that. Such is the semi slumber mindset. 'Oxygen' as a term for movie service provider is alien to me being Australian. Thankfully a few cogs turned as the caffeine amassed.

I like the very last shot of that movie, where she's just staring into the camera, that little, enigmatic half-smile on her lips and her eyes just daring you to judge her.

Perfect.

I think you're still asleep. Oxygen is a cable TV network, just like Fox News, CNN, the Turner networks, TVLand, Spike TV, whatever.

Oxygen has other shows on besides movies, but they are all kind of woman oriented. And the movies seem to be geared more to women's interests, too. You don't have cable TV down there? Or maybe yours doesn't offer the Oxygen network.

Don't ask me where the name Oxygen comes from, other than the air we breathe. Using it as a network name, I'm lost.

You know, I didn't read it that way. I read it as someone with desires that society didn't understand being labeled as mentally ill, even by herself. I didn't see the dominant as saving her so much as I saw them saving each other.

I mean, he's obviously not trying to save her. He's using her, and in the end he's so disgusted with himself that he breaks it off. That's when he's trying to save her and she doesn't want that kind of saving.

Really, a very enjoyable film even if some of the particular kinks aren't to my tastes.

Nah... just two very flawed people, who had desires that they thought were wrong, who worked through their shit enough to realize they weren't the sick twisted disturbed people society told them they were. A lot of people get into BDSM by that path... feeling they're broken, lots of stop and start mistakes, gradual healing of the poor coping mechanisms they'd depended on previously, and eventually embracing their true [kinky] selves.I think EG and I had a chat about it in a previous thread about the movie...

ugh. i didn't care for that movie at all, but much of that is my own fault due to false expectations. the thing is, i was expecting it to be a movie about a Dominant and a submissive, and it's not that at all. there's nothing submissive about Lee, and nothing Dominant about Spader's character. it's basically a mediocre story about two troubled individuals who find peace and salvation through their toppish/bottomish relationship. but because i was expecting/hoping to see a D/s situation, not a bdsm top/bottom situation, i was sorely disappointed in the film and actually quite a few of the scenes bother me, the bathtub scene being one, and the last scene where she leaves the bug on the bed (so she can get "punished) being another.
