I don't know if the girl working at my local UPS Store actually made contact and either failed to call me, my voicemail screwed up again, or she never got through when I was there the first time, but she got through to UPS International when I went back there yesterday and found out what supposedly happened to the package.
They told her that when the address was discovered to be incorrect, they assumed the problem was in the second and third digits and left it at 12229 rather than sending it back to be resent out correctly labeled.
There's a trace going on to see if they can locate it, but she (my local UPS Store agent) said it might be easier to have the intended recipient make contact with the erroneous one and see if they still have the package.

Me and Chronie must have some bad luck :S
we haven't gotten anything- and we are sad to say we are giving up.
