What kind of music do you enjoy listening to, that you kinda keep a secret because your afraid ya might get some slack about.

I am a Rocker at heart, I love rock, classic and modern. Metallica is my fav band. NIN, Smashing pumpkins ect.

But... I do have a collection of umm Spice Girl Cd's, Britney Spears Cd's. hehe some stuff like that. No N'Sync or Backstreet boys, I aint going that far. lol. But I kinda hide the fact i got those others. *runs and hides behind a bush*

Raising a guilty hand....

So you want to know the deep, dark secrets of my CD collection? Ok, I'll share with you.

I do own some very cool music. I also own some very uncool music:

Boyzone
Chumbawamba, the Tubthumper single
The Space Jam soundtrack
Now 44: compilation includes Britney Spears, Steps, Mel C, Geri Halliwell, Backstreet Boys, S Club 7, and Enrique Iglesias (as well as some seriously good stuff, but I do listen to the whole thing).

Mystery

My guilty secret is that Metallica is probably my favorite band as well (at least in the Hard Rock/metal genre), and I'm pretty sure I'm quite a bit older than you. Oh well, those guys DO rock like nobody's business...what else can you say.

I was just looking at my collection and I have to say that I don't really think I own anything that one could call "embarrassing". I am very resistant to buying whatever is "cool", or "hot" at the present. I also tend to buy everything from groups that I really like, or stuff that I've heard a lot or is very hightly recommended or is older and has stood the test of time. CD's are just too damned expensive to buy whenever the whim for something new hits.

Oh...wait a minute, I just remembered those Garth Brooks CD's I've got wedged under the table leg to keep it level...

Problem Child....

I'll ignore the Garth CD's because I otherwise have faith in you as a human being; I assume they were a gift from a distant and misguided relative.

Why are you people UP? Isn't it, like, half past five in the morning where you are???

bed time already?

nope sorry hun. Almost 2 here. I am gonna get going soon enough though.

Now everyone else. hmm. I just dont know. I think they live here. As do you. *shy grin*

Actually both of the GB cd's were gifts. One I listened to halfway through and then tossed it into the corner, and the other is still in the celophane wrapper.

It's 2:30 am here on the west coast, and I am watching a Monty Python marathon on BBCAmerica. Goddamn I'm such an unrepentant Anglophile...

Repent

Unless you want petrol shortages, mad cow, foot and mouth, pub closings at 11 pm and a shadow cabinet headed by William Hauge.

Gregorian Chants

i'm not embarrassed about it but people look at me funny when i tell them i have some on CD...

Hummm..we have had this talk before, Mystery. I am an old time rock n roll girl myself though I do listen to any song of today that catches my fancy. I dont usually listen to songs just because they are from a certain group...I listen to the song and, if I like it, I listen to it.

I also dont listen to any song that I cant make the words out to. This is for a simple reason...I love to torture people by singing along with the song so I need to know the words. *grins*

My CDs?

Well I have the Carpenters, the Archies (yes they actually recorded CDs by a comix band), Air Supply, ABBA, REO Speedwagon, Jim Croce, Huey Lewis and the News and many others from the 60s, 70s and 80s...sprinkle some 90s music in there and you have me and my song preferences.

My most awful, guilty CD pleasure?

Disco! Yes, I love disco. Thankfully, the folks at work share my taste in music, so we never fight over it. We still want to get a disco ball for the lab! :D Management just rolls their eyes and walks away. LMAO

sorry nitelight. i didnt know the thread was already done. The threads go way in the back pages so fast i cant keep up sometimes.

Also ProblemChild. there was a monty python marathon? for crying out loud i cannot believe i missed that! I love monty python. ya know if there gonna show anymore anytime?

*deep breath* Isolde Isolde Isolde. *shakes head and hugs ya* The only thing i can pick out of your list to hang my head in shame bout is the AirSupply. hehe. j/k ;)

Hey! Air Supply is a great group...you have been watching way too much Monty Python and your brain is now mush...

i mainly listen to NIN, Metallica, and Korn.. and a few soundtrack CDs: the scores to Gladiator, the Star Wars movies, and Conan the Barbarian..

Nine Inch Nails has to be my all time favorite band.. NIN is the only group whose t-shirts i'll wear.. i have four right now, but only b/c i can't find many here in the midwest US, and b/c the online shop i found won't work for me, for some reason.. i currently have 23 different NIN CDs, including domestics and imports.. there are few legal NIN cds i DON'T have..

if i i'm in the mood for a song with actual meaning, especially if it's the depressed sad or the psychotic angry, i have to look no further than NIN.. my top five favorite songs all include NIN songs (a few are ties with "Nothing Else Matters", "The Unforgiven II", and "Until It Sleeps" by Metallica).. the music i hear in the back of my mind when things are shitty turned out to be the music to "The Day the World Went Away" and "TDTWWA (quiet)", and i was hearing that music for a good year before they came out.. the first one never fails to make me cry; when i'm listening to it, it seems like ever fiber of my being is vibrating in a harmony that's better than any orgasm i've ever had (though i AM like Todd in one respect); it's almost a religious experience..

My playlists..... are divised into categories: 80s, ShitList, Harder, Modern, Smooth, Soft, Tori Amos, Fuck You, Groove, Delirium, Feel Good, Sexy, and Frisky... all my moods, I suppose, each has it's fair share of corny stuff.

Let's see... I have a few things stashed away, like Elton John... I know, I know.... um Sophie B Hawkins, Adam Ant... Wang Chung on record (yes I have a record player), Billy Idol... anything 80s, actually. I have some Sir Mix-a-lot... lol "Baby for back!" Guns and Roses, Marky Mark and the funky Bunch ;)George Michael... Oh! And Queensryche! I suppose that pretty much sums up the collection that I hide when a really cool special someone comes over and checks out what I still leave out! Otherwise, I don't really care who knows!

Whatever happened to Air Supply?

Okay, Favorites are Queen (Freddie Mercury was the MAN!!!), Police & ABBA but an embarrassing CD? Does Journey count? They're still pretty popular, right?

I have no guilty pleasures. I listen to a great deal of classical music, and have lately become addicted to Anonymous 4.

In fact, I'm listening to 11,000 Virgins right now.

Well nothing that I'm embarassed about really. I mostly listen to great rock past and present - Queen, Led Zep, Metellica, Collective Soul and so forth. But the odd ones out would be the Clanad and the musical sound tracks (I love Les Mis.), I suppose. Those never go in the machine when mates come around - let alone the Mozart.

I have quite a collection of different kinds of heavier music, I won't go into it here. (I'd be flogged)

But my embarrassing music...anything classical, I love it. Especially the evil, dark, slow sounding stuff.

What's embarrasing about classical music?

I'm never embarrassed when I dance around my living room in my underwear and a gold winged helmet waving a sword, listening to Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries....

Ba bum bada BUM BUM, bum bada BUM BUM, bum bada BUM BUM, bum bada BUM....

Valkyries

When I was growing up, our next-door neighbor had Kirsten Flagstad come to one of her parties. She entertained the company with that extremely stirring battle cry; it rattled glass for blocks around.

She had her picture taken in front of our palm tree. It was quite a day.
