Secret Lives (Closed)

Dance and theater... so nothing too over the top. Visions of Broadway no more no less.

She smile and took another drink. She would have loved to curl up with this young man as they talked but knew better. Do nothing that would get back to Tony and cost her this sweet young man.

Mason got to his feet, as if sitting on stone wasn't comfortable regardless of his namesake. "Ah, I knew I would have been wrong. I'm just glad to hear you actually planned to do something with your looks... I mean, so many women go into business just to spite anyone who'd find them attractive... I mean, that's to say that it's nice when an attractive woman is willing to acknowledge... I mean- You would have made an amazing actress!" He quickly drank if just to shut himself up.

"I saw Cats!" He blurted out. "I used to own the soundtrack of that and Phantom of the Opera when I was elementary!" he blushed, then drank again before leaning over to hand her the bottle.

What would be wrong with a woman say being in your line of work or in Tony's Hmm? You think I haven't learned a few little things being Tony's wife?

She faintly laughed at him getting tripped up over his thoughts and words it was sweet.

"Oh, don't be me started on women in roles dominated by men. One of my L.T.s in basic acted like she needed to be twice the man as any one of her superiors. She'd even go so far as to run along side someone on the course just to prove how weak we were." Mason grinned, "When women put their minds to something, I quake with fear. I, personally, have no doubts you could take over all of this in your husbands absence."

She was not sure if she should smile at that or not so she took another drink of the Scotch and sighed.

SO what do you do with your life when you are not here Mason?

Mason sense some tension in he air which made him relax. It was nice to know that Jasleena didn't just admit that she could take over. He had not doubts to her confidence and was more than willing to accept how smart she was, but she had her limits and he was glad to see them.

"Honestly, my days have been reduced to staying on the grounds and just waiting for when I might be needed. At least the den has book and our dorm has cable." He smiled, "Prior to that I probably did typical bachelor things like going to movies, watching UFC at a bar and playing Black Ops on my XBox... I probably sound boring to you." He laughed.

"I hope this doesn't get me in trouble, but these last few nights I've been walking the grounds just... thinking. I like the quite. I like feeling... small." He shook his head, worried he wasn't making sense.

I doubt he will keep everyone confined here on "lock down" for much longer. She listened enjoying actually hearing about a normal life. She took another sip and just watched him as he talked.

What do you mean small? It is peaceful around here especially around the gardens and the stables.

Mason was about to chime in on the lock down saying, "Well as long as the- Actually, do you know very much about what's going on? I'd hate to say more than I'm allowed." Mason hated himself for using such a baited question, but he had to know not only what he was allowed to say, but how involved she was in all of this.

On the topic of feeling small Mason just furrowed his brow in thought. "I guess... When there are these people around, people I'm not even friends with but I'm constantly pretending to trust all the time, I start to feel closed in. Like, I'm not allowed to move or do what I want." He waved for her to follow him, and walked a bit further toward the shadows. "See, from here you can see stars. And it feels like there's nothing around. Just me and the universe. I feel small because the world is so big and it's like I can go... anywhere."

Just that He has decided he wants primary people here full time. Why I don't know but its not the first time he spends the day in meetings and something like this happens.

She walked with him and smiled staring out at the stars. She seemed to get lost staring at them for a moment. She did finally whisper

They are so beautiful...so free.

Mason nodded, and looked down to say something but forgot what it was. He felt too close to Jasleena, and not close enough at the same time. He didn't know if he should move away, admitting that there was a reason he shouldn't be so close to her or just stay here under the guise of nothing going on.

Mason held his ground, his heart hammering against his chest as he tried to sound calm and continue his words. "Sometimes being small... being away from, everything is... well, it's very nice." He wanted to say more but he couldn't take his eyes off her perfect lips. "I, uh, just want to..." that was a dangerous thing to start saying.

Hearing his partial sentence she glanced over to him her head tilted slightly.

What Mason?

So young so handsome... in another time another place.... another life... cursing her thoughts she tried to clear her mind to listen to him. Foolish hopes can get people killed she knew that lesson all too well.

In his mind he was answering her question the words that confessed his desire to kiss her at the tip of his tongue. He feared even speaking, worried the confession would slip out if he even opened his mouth. Four heart beats. Six. Then Twelve. He was having problems getting his voice to work again.

His hands found her arms before he even realized he was reaching out to her. "I want to stop hiding from the world. I want to live and love on my terms. Don't you? Do you have... desires? Dreams? Wishes?"

It was driving him insane how much he wanted to kiss her right now. His brain screamed out warnings of danger, but his heart refused to listen.

She inhaled sharp finding herself staring into his eyes. His question was all things she had given up especially after the first time Tony turned abusive. Oh no she thought her reaction to him grabbing her arms like that... sharp inhale Okay shock that would not reveal anything dangerous... Then she realized... she had also tensed and she was shaking... She could not see his face... her eyes clearly had shut tight... Fear like that might tip him off... Might make him worry or do something stupid and get himself killed. She couldn't let that happen. Quickly trying to set everything to right to not reveal any more fear she opened her eyes smiled as best she could and shrugged a little at his words.

I guess.. I share Tony's dreams of the good he can do and the life he wants us to have.

"Do you?" Mason turned his head, almost unable to take his eyes of her lips. "I mean, do you honestly share in his dream or do you just wake up every morning telling yourself that you do. But deep down inside you know it's more your dream. Sure, you started out with the best of intentions, but now it's spun so far out of control you hold on to what the hope that it will turn around on it's own. Because, God knows, it's so far past your control that you don't know if you can get out and still be whole?"

Mason realized he wasn't talking about her anymore. This job was supposed to be about putting his life on the line in bringing down the dragon but now he was willing to put his job on the line just to save the princess.

She did what she could to turn away.

I... I know that there are things he has done... that are... not what they should have been but...His drive and passion for his business and his world and his city sometimes...

She closed her eyes tight and sighed.

Mason let her turn for a moment, then slipped around to face her again, "I great a lot of passion. But I don't hear you in there. You, who he should feel the most passion for... And not just sometimes." It was too late to take the words back. Mason paused to listen to hous own heart, which seemed to only beat this strongly around Jasleena. "Always." He whispered, slowly moving in to vow loving in ways Tony couldn't with a kiss.

She froze... was he actually kissing her... her mind blanked for a moment before going into overdrive and quickly pulling away looking around to make sure no one saw what he had done. Her eyes darting wildly around before they found him again still right there. Her eyes staring into his... her a mixture of confusion fear as she bit her lip unsure what to say.

Mason... I... you...

The kiss was shallow at loving, so Jaslenna had no problems tearing away. Seeing her panicked gestures Mason nodded once. "I'm sorry. I mean, I'm sorry if that upset you. I can't be sorry I did that."

He took her hand into both of his own, caressing fearlessly as he explained, "I've had to work a security shift or five. The is a blank spot from the middle of that fountain to the far side of the stable. Anyone watching tonight would have seen you alone." He paused to kiss her fingertips. "I just wanted to remind you what it felt like to be treated as a woman, and not a possession. I was afraid I wouldn't have this perfect an opportunity again."

She just stared into his eyes not able to find words she just listened to him continue to speak. Her mind reeling but glad to hear he said there was a blind spot clearly the general area where she wandered was not worthy of security cameras... strangely she was happy to know that.

I... I don't know what to say Mason I...

It was clearly something she was not used to without it being for show or veiled attempt to act loving. She truly had no idea what to make of his kind tender gesture. There was always the fear of Tony learning of it but that would happen when and if it happened.

Mason parted his lips to speak, then changed his mind and just kissed her again. There was nothing aggressive behind his lips and no attacking of her mouth. He was tender and loving. He wasn't trying to turn her own but he wasn't kissing her as anything less than a suitor giving Jasleena all the freedom to pull away... if that was her wish.

Confusion gave way to instinct as she whimpered into the kiss but did not pull away from him... Every rational fiber in her mind screamed for her to run but she could not make her feet move from their spot. She was shaking there in his embrace... It had been way too long since she had felt any real emotion from a male. Finally she did pull away biting her lip searching his eyes for anything that would make her think this was a trick or a trap.

It was impossible for Mason to feel Jasleena's trembling as his own body buzzed with a mix of fear an excitement. He met her searching eyes and just smiled amorously despite the fear that she'd tell Tony what he'd done. In many ways he'd just put his life in her hands, but at the same time he was at peace with idea that she'd betray him and it would be over than live wondering what could have been.

"I promise not to do that again, without your express permission." His smiled never faded as he blinked slowly, contentedly. Looking back he brush his fingers across her cheek, tucking away a stray hair. "Just know, right now, there's someone here who cares about you for you and not because he thinks he just owns you or your body." He gave her another smile and let his hand fall away. With nothing left to connect them he glanced down to find is bottle, dropped and forgotten somewhere, in preparation for leaving Jasleena at peace.

I.. I know Mason... I... She smiled at him she would not mind another kiss from him even with her fear of Tony. Her hand moving to rest on his hand on her cheek even if it was a fleeting moment. She wanted to be mad at him for reminding her of things she could never have but she wan't mad... she was in a way overjoyed to he held such feelings for her.

I... I should get back to the house.

Mason nodded, "Just know, that in another time or a different life, I'd walk you to the door..." He shrugged, not thinking the rest needed to be said. "Sweet dreams." He gestured to imply he would be walking the other direction.

She smiled nodding

I know Mason... Sleep well...

Nodding at his motioning he would go the other way and turned heading to the house. Walking in through the veranda she glanced around to see who all was about as she made her way upstairs to her room.
