Secret Lives (Closed)

Well then what to with the rest of the day... that does not involve guns?

Oh this one was going to be an enigma... Let the games begin she thought. Walking out she walked past an elderly lady sitting near the door and nodded to her telling her to have a wonderful day in flawless Japanese then walking out the door with Mason. She could not let herself start feeling too safe with this man nor too relaxed around him knowing it was too late for that she simply would have to see where this little ride went.

Mason paused at the same woman and nodded, "Uhm... Domino Airy Gator." He said, bowing stiffly.

Once they were outside, Mason gestured in the direction of the car. "So, when was the last time you even went to a movie theater. I don't know if you Mr. Cyndell lets you out that of house that often but they make some in the 3D now."

She stifled a chuckle as he tried to speak to the lady and then laughed at what he said to her.

So I have heard and the last time I saw a movie in a theater was... Tony and I were still dating if that tells you anything.

Shrugging she looked into those eyes again

I have often thought about going but I... Never know how he will react with a bodyguard and I going into a theater together. Sometimes reactions of others are a tad unpredictable ya know.

Mason did some quick math then smiled, "Tell me you saw Shaun of the Dead! It should have been right around that time."

Mason slowed his pace so as not to reach the car too quickly, obviously taking her warning to heart, "Look, I really think you need this. Just go in the theater, buy yourself a ticket with my check card and I'll wait for you to be done. Trust me, I'll find something to do while you're enjoying your film."

"You never told me how long we were supposed to be gone, and if this is going to be a regular thing. If it is, I really do promise to plan better."

She was feeling strangely trapped... if he did not go into the movie with her what would happen if he did go in with her who would tell Tony.

You have managed a first Mason. Presented me with a situation I can see the damned if I do damned if I don't outcome... Join me. Whatever happens happens I would rather you be there doing your job and my getting his jealousy acting up if it happens than you not be there and him get mad at you.

Walking to the car she fell silent knowing that Tony more than likely had all the cars bugged at least that was the general consensus.

"As you wish, ma'am."

Mason said nothing more as they walked to the car. He opened the back seat door for her, keeping quiet and then got in to drive.

"So the next store is just up this way?" He said, probably for the benefit of any surveillance devices. He was otherwise quite until they had reached their destination and he could park with some ambiguity, so as not to imply he was parking at a movie theater.

He was out of the car and moving around to open he door almost instantly. A kind of eager energy about him, as if he was biting his tongue until they could we away from the vehicle.

Yes right over there near that ghastly blue building. I will never understand what possessed Ingrid to let them paint her store that color.

Once the car was parked near the vile building she watched him hurry around and bit back a laugh regaining her composure as he opened the door and helps her out of the car. Walking from the car she smiled a little but this time did not ask him what was on his mind and simply waited for the questions to begin.

Mason closed the car door, stepped back and hesitated for a moment. He closed the door and followed, quiet at first he seemed to wait exactly 15 feet before clapping his hands once.

"Okay. So, what's on the agenda? Romantic Comedy? Dramatic Chick Flick? I mean, don't pick anything based on the fact that I have to sit through it. After 8 years of Cinematic Detox, you should see whatever you want."

I honestly don't know what I would want to see like I said its been 8 years.

She thought for a moment...

Something touching... tender... maybe a little romantic.

Smiling to him he was being so sweet to her and genuinely didn't seem to care what his employer would think even after finding out he was capable of murder.

Hearing Jasleena's criteria, Mason nodded as he thought while still walking.

"Okay, okay. This is good. Sounds like you're leaning towards an Emily Blunt movie since she's pretty much the new Katherine Heigl right about now. Maybe Steve Carell? You're out of the loop but ladies like him for some reason."

Mason stopped by the posters of what was showing and sighed, "Wow. I can tell you now, skip those two, and wait for that one to be on NetFlix. Other than that, you should be okay. So, what will the lady choose?" He turned and smiled, waiting for Jasleena to make her choice.

Picking out a movie that looked like it would have romance and maybe something car or something like that related that he could enjoy as well.

There that looks good lets go.

She moved towards the ticket desk glancing around a little on edge but hiding it well to an untrained eye.

"Excellent. I haven't seen that one."

Mason nodded in agreement to her movie choice and gestured with an arm so that she could lead the way. He fell back in step quickly and leaned, one shoulder, against the ticket booth and people watched while she got the tickets.

"Do you want to get popcorn? I'm buying. So long as you give me my card back."

He looked around, pointing to a few movie posters and making comments like "I can't believe they're making a sequel to that one." or "I want to see that one. Looks strange but the director's did some cool things in the last two, so I'm willing to try a period piece."

She laughed and looked to the posters and shrugged or nodded. Nodding at the comment of popcorn she smiled once they were away from people she looked at him and took a deep relaxing breath before she began to talk.

Mason I think my husband might have finally gotten it right on a bodyguard for me with you... You know how to act the part around him and relax around me...

There will be tests to that loyalty and the one who writes the check... Tony is not an easy man to deal with at times especially when it comes to me... just... fair warning.

Mason nodded/bowed, a kind of half lean that fell somewhere in between, in appreciation of her compliment. At her warning however, he was as cool and relaxed as always.

"Don't worry, ma'am. Like I said, this isn't my first rodeo."

He stopped, making sure they hadn't reached the counter or gotten close to anyone. He pivoted to be right in front of her, his jovial exterior replaced with a hard boiled seriousness, "Speaking of trust, I want to be clear that I take my job seriously. My job is to protect you. Even if I have to pretend all my loyalties are elsewhere for - someone's ego, it's still to protect you. Do you know what I mean?"

Just don't get yourself killed over me Mason. Got it. Promise me that... right now.

Her tone just as cold and direct as she stared into his eyesand almost as if straight through him with the intensity in her feelings on this matter. She would not be the reason for another death in that place.

Mason met Jasleena's eyes and stared back, clearly processing her words. Finally he nodded, "I'm not going to lie to you. But I can promise I won't get killed for just doing my job, okay? I'm sure your husband would killed me if I let you get killed on my watch."

This wonderful sweet young man just did not get it and she could not bring herself to say anything that might insight anger or anything stupidly noble in this young man. After all he undoubtedly would hear Tony lose it around her sooner or later.

She enjoyed the movie immensely and the down time away from it all. As they left the theater she sighed seeing the skyline.

We should start heading back.

Mason checked his watch, as opposed to the sky, and nodded. "Right. So, do you always have to stay out this late?" He lingered, waiting to see if Jasleena would answer, then walked her to the car and let her in.

He said nothing more on the ride back to the estate.

Jasleena would soon learn Tony was home for dinner.

No this was a unique day there are very few all day required outtings.

Quiet on the ride home she wondered what the evening would hold. Walking into the house she was told by the maid that Tony was home so she slipped upstairs to get changed into one of her new dresses and fixed up here hair knowing Dinner would be ready soon.

Mason waited for her to go into the house before driving away to park the car. Chances were he'd not be seen again for the rest of the night.

Downstairs, waiting for dinner, Tony was already half way through a bottle of 35 year old Single Malt Scotch which probably wasn't helping his dark mood.

Walking into the grand dining room she walked over kissing his cheek softly his face told her that something had not gone his way so she hoped a little tender gesture from her would help him but she doubted it.

Hello darling.

Tony grunted his response, but otherwise made no indication he was even aware of his wife's presence until a few more ounces of Scotch were added to his glass first. Turning he flashed a forced smile to her, all the while his eyes cold and hard.

"How was your day?"

His tone was indifferent. He was asking out of some obligation to be nice and probably wasn't actually interested. Even before Jasleena could answer his eyes fell toward the floor as his mind continued to process whatever it was working on before she'd come in.

Then, dinner was served...

Well enough... How was your day love?

Smiling to the maid as she delivered dinner to the table and began to eat as usual in silence. His mood clearly a 180 from this morning. She wondered what had changed his mood and what would happen this time... at least she was fairly sure that Mason had left the house if not the compound entirely... probably to see a girlfriend or something like that. He would at least hopefully not hear anything if Tony became aggressive with her.

Tony lifted his glass, and paused to answer her question "My day fucking sucked." He drank half his Scotch and put the glass down hard. Returning to his meal he said nothing for a moment.

Gently setting down his knife, Tony reached out and snatched Jasleena's wrist and squeezed like a vice. "Dear?" The word was dripping with venom "Would you be so kind as not chew your salad so loudly or stop eating it!" He flashed her a smiled paired with dangerous eyes and squeezed her wrist a little harder before letting go.

Turning back to his meal again he explained, "I lost a lot of money today and just want a nice, calming, dinner. Okay?" He finished the last half of his Scotch in one motion and then set it aside, clearly turning to the wine at the table for his continued liquor consumption.

She simply left the salad alone wincing at his grip on her wrist.

I'm sorry dear.

She tried to comfort him reaching a hand to his. Its not like they would ever truly run out of money and she was trying to be a loving supportive wife.

I... I am sure it will get better love. Perhaps have Mason or Derrick drive you out to that cigar bar you love so much to relax.
