Second Life

It is for broadband only, unfortunately. Well, technically you can use dialup, but I tried that once and - eeeewwww. (My wife and I both got promotions a couple of months ago and we got cable net, yay!)

It does actually work with more graphics cards than they let on, though - I run it on my Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop which has an Intel Extreme-based card.

Totally random question - is anybody else here on Second Life?
http://secondlife.com/

No. Heard about it at the beginning of the year from a friend and really wanted to join (we wanted to raise our own little brand of chaos in there) but I'd just started a new job and didn't have the time to put into this intriguing little venture.

Hey, don't knock it MarGuis, smart people are getting _rich_ in this place...and not with cybercoin, either!

That is definitely true. It amazes me how much RL money is involved with this virtual world - both spent and earned.

I am also on There.com (as Etoile) if anybody's there too. :)

Wow, she is a hottie! :D Can she actually fly with those wings or are they only for decoration?
She can indeed fly with those wings, and she also has big black angel wings.

omg, this looks like the ultimate crack-laced way to waste time....

Oh, indeed! I'm already thinking it sounds much more fun than any online game I know of.

It is a helluva lot of fun to play with! It's pretty highly sexualized, at least in the Mature areas; there are large furry and Gor contingents but I don't usually interact with those.

haha, I'll keep an idle eye for one of those promotions.

They did just have a recent giveaway for basic accounts (normally $10, that's what I paid and have) but it still required a CC.

Drat.

Yeah, I've been in Second Life myself (hey, if you feel like giving me a referal, just click this link before signing up).

Anywho, yes, the place has got all of the kink and sexuality of the internet, except in a place where you can basically design and/or be anything and everything you want to. The place is basically one big creative playground where you can also be anonymous (and since you only have to pay $9.95 once ever to have an account there, it does have quite a few members). The place is HUGE (I'll never be able to visit every place in it). One month someone actually created a three sim (a sim is 65,535 m2 of land) virtual Neverland area modeled after Peter Pan. There are kink and fetish related clubs all over the place, and last time I was there there was at least one entire sim owned by furries.

'course, I haven't been back in ages, but I still own land there (which I have to pay money for). I'll probably go back again eventually, especially if they ever improve their scripting language again (which'll probably be after the planned upgrade to the graphics engine).

Or you could just let me live on your land! (Actually I already have a place to live rent-free, but I'm a little worried because the owner has been talking about selling it off, sigh.)

Look me up sometime, or send me an IM and I'll hop online. :)
