Tonight was the night James had been waiting for. Time had flown by and he couldn't believe that it was already time for the 20 year reunion. Butterfiles began fluttering as he scanned the crowd for her. Would she be here? Would he recognize her? I mean...he'd changed over the years what's to say she wouldn't.

Taking a sip from his drink he spotted another one of his friends across the room and waved him over.

"Looking for Lore" He said as he approached.

"N...no...I'm just seeing who's here yet" James lied but he didn't fool his friend, Jason. They had been best friends since high school and James's feelings towards Lore were no secret to him.

"Come on man, just nut up and walk over there. This isn't high school anymore, she's an adult and I'm sure would love to talk to a man of your stature and success."

"You mean she's hear" James asked, his voice cracking a little and his words coming out louder than intended.

Jason rolled his eyes and laughed. "Yes she's over there, now go talk to her" he said pushing James towards her.

Shayla had gone on and on about the reunion and how Lore looked better than alot of the glamor girls from their highschool days. Dragging her from her writing and deadlines was no easy feat but Shayla refused to back down as she finally won and was standing talking to Jaxon as she made sure Lore didn't try to run off.

Lore sipped her drink looking around. The prom queen was on husband #4 and and that night alone probably her second pack of cigs. Several others from that stable of money popularity and easily removed clothes also looked different from way too much Botox to way too much plastic surgery... Constantly chasing the body they had in high school after kids and who knows what all.

Lore never really blended well with most of the cliques in school and Shayla was about her only real friend from back then. Before she always simply vanished from sight. Never bullied just never noticed that she knew of. This had given her an incredible upper hand in observing and learning secrets about those around her that only fed the creative writing propelling her after college to go into writing full time and now a well published author with several books and series to her name rarely finding a genre she didn't like.

James stumples foreward and then spins around to hand Jason his drink.

"Here goes nothing" he said, taking a deep breath. He made his way over to Lore and Shayla. His palms started to sweat a little and he subtly reached into his pockts to dry them off on the inside of the pocket. He then took a breath mint from his pocket and popped it in his mouth, trying to cover up the fact that he had been drinking earlier. He didn't want to give the ladies the wrong impression. His over polished shoes caught the lights as he walked and his pressed tuxedo crinkled as he walked. He had recently shaved his long beard and he hoped that Lore would still recognize him.

"Excuse me ladies" he said as he reached them on the other side of the room.

Shayla smiled.

James... Jason get over here... Look who I managed to talk into showing up. You two remember Lore... Right?

Lore smiled setting the empty glass down.

Wow... It's been a while. Good to see you two.

Jason makes his way across the room and hands James his drink back, leaning in and whispering "Figured you would need this."

James takes the cup and takes a sip from it, nervously eyeing the two ladies.

Jason, seeing his friend is useless at the moment steps in. "So Lore, you haven't changed much, what have you been up to lately? I was in the NFL for a while but retired a couple years back."

A writer now... Fiction non fiction UST about any genre that pops into mind. In fact I am kinda procrastinating on a deadline to be here tonight. Honestly can't say the NFL surprises me much Jason you always were quite the athlete...

She laughed a little and looked at James.

What about you James sports too? You were quite the athlete as well.

James shakes his head "No, no sports for me...at least not professionally. I work as a model now. And I am not terribly surprised to hear your a writer, it seems to fit."

Jason nods "It does fit. What about you, do you play any sports? I know James enjoys tennis, swimming, and wrestling."

Swimming is nice when I can get away or dancing.

When he said model she smiled a little more.

I am always looking for cover models for some of my books... Perhaps you James or both of you Jason would be interested?

"Sure" James says almost to enthusiastically. "Here is my agents card, why don't you contact them to set up a shoot. I wouldn't mind being on a series if you have something coming up thats in need. Otherwise single use is fine" He says while fumbling in his pocket for his wallet. He finds it a moment later and opens it and pulls a card out of one of the pockets inside.

Jason shakes his head "I don't model, thats his thing. I had enough of the media while in the NFL, I like a quieter life now."

Taking the card she looked to Jason with a smile

Pity... I have a couple of books I could see you on the cover of easily too.

As if knowing she was having fun away from her computer her phone rings heralding a text message.

Excuse me.a moment... It has to be my publisher... No one has a better radar for when I am trying to relax than he does.

Taking her phone out and sighing seeing she was right she quickly snaps a picture of the business card and shoots a message as her only answer to him telling him to get James for some cover work or else.

"If you need, you can snap a picture of me to, I think I look pretty dapper if I do say so myself" James says with a cheesy grin. "Though this will be the first time I'm wearing a tux for a photo in a long time" He says with a chuckle.

"Don't let us ruin your evening, If you have to work we understand" Jason interjects.

No I don't and Yeah let me snap a picture. Though I am curious just how little do you normally wear in pics then or should my devious writers mind be left to run wild on that?

She winked and snapped a quick photo of him sending it.

As for Work Jason...

She turned her phone completely off after the picture sent.

They are now the ones with the job to do not me I am.going to enjoy my.evening...

"Well...some of your readers might recognize me...I am an underwear model" Jason says and once the photo is taken takes another long pull from his drink. "Would you like something to drink Lore?"

Really... an underwear model. Perhaps they would then James.

Nodding.

Yeah let's grab a table sit down and relax and talk and have a drink... All three of us.

Feeling braver now that the initial meeting was over James cleared his throat. "Actually, I was wondering..." He paused for a brief moment and his nerves returned. He glanced at the glass in his hand still a quarter full of drink. Downing it all in one big gulp he continued "...if I could trouble you for a quick dance."

Jason felt his heart almost leap from his chest in surprised pride in his friend. 'finally growing a pair's he thought to himself. He took the empty glass from James's hand. "I'll just get us drinks and wait for you two at the table., what do you want more?"

She smiled.

I would love to dance James.

Glancing to Jason with a nod.

Bourbon straight.

"Sure thing" Jason said after Lore placed her drink order. His eyes then went over to James "Let me guess, whisky neat" he says with a hint of something in his voice.

"...Yeah you got it" James said and then leaned into him, whispering in his ear. "You okay? You seem a bit...off now"

Jason whispers back "Yeah just...didn't expect you to be so...forward with her. Different seeing you with anyone else. But you've been lusting after Lore for 22 years now...its about time you do something about it other than fantasize to me about it. Don't let me stay in your way love." He sneaks a quick peck onto James's cheek, hoping lore didn't notice.

Lore was a writer she observed everything but the kiss only confirmed what she had known since highschool. She didn't want to cause any issue between them so one dance then sitting down. She wondered if Jason had felt the same way. Ma y of her mmf books had actually been daydreams of the three of them. Not that she ever thought she would ever stand a chance since back then they were always aiming at easier prey of popular girls.

Biting her lip a little out of nervous habits she looked to James

Jason walks over to the bar to order the drinks while James nervously reaches out and takes her hand. "Come, let me sweep you off your feet" he says suddenly pulling her to him and then lifting her off her feet with ease he carries her onto the dance floor.

Jason watches, jealousy washing over him for a brief moment. 'Sure thats right...you get her and I'll just sit here in the corner...what if I want her to James...you dolt' he says in a low whisper to himself.

She found it curious but said nothing just smiled. She had learned so many people in highschool secrets by being that silent observer no one ever really noticed. Especially James and Jason and that kiss earlier to the cheek.

As they danced she smiled and asked.

So Have you and Jason stayed close all these years?

"Closer than you realize" he says snickering a little. He then looks past her to Jason at the bar. He was leaning against it watching them. A slight jealous look on his face.

"Would you mind dancing with him next. We...well...we kind of both had a thing for you back in high school so it would mean a lot for him to be able to dance with you as well. Though I'm sure he'd ask you himself if he where here. He's the more outspoken of the to of us. To be honest it took me quite a lot of liquid courage to come over and talk to you...let alone ask you for this dance. Thank you for making a teenage dream come true."

She smirked at the closer than you realize as if he had admitted to her suspicion all these years.

I'll bet... And yes I would love to dance with him too. I am enjoying actually spending time with the two of you... Alot.

She winked as they danced.

She smiled as he pulled her closer her arms wrapping closer around him as well as they danced. She barely registered when the music ended. Once she noticed a few people walking past them.exiting the dance floor she smiled to him.

Guess it's time to see if Jason dances as well.

She was softly lost in his eyes.

James enjoyed the feel of having Lore in his arms. Finally, after all this time, they were on the dance floor together. He breathed in her scent subtly as he held her and it was almost hard to believe this was happening. Far to soon the song was over and it was time to let her go. But what was this, she wasn't making any move to get away. He swayed around the dance floor with her for another moment longer, just enjoying the moment.

As others started to walk past them leaving the dance floor he finally released her.

"Well want to go find Jason for that dance?"
