Hey there, no one seems to be replying to my personal invite to be my editor, I understand that it is busy for you guys.
So I'm just going to do it this way, my characters are in the line of Incest/Taboo honestly it is sort of based on my life with a bit of hot other things that never happened.
If you want to know more, which is alot I will give it to you before you know it (I'd be happy to:) obligeogeoeoeoeoeoeo meh @ my vs grammer.
Here is another peice of apple pie, the story will be written in parts, volumes if you may.

A&E it might just be that you added "it is sort of based on my life" Just my guess

Hey there :)

If I wasn't so busy I would take you one in a hearbeat as Incest stories are my forte.....BUT...unfortunately my plate is overflowing and I don't feel I could give your story the attention it deserves.

Have you tried taking a look at the "Alternate editors" list that I created here on the EF? The ones on that list are very good!

Regardless, I'll try my hand at your story. Incest tends to perk my ear, right and wrong aside.

You say 'will be written in parts, volumes if you may.' So is it all written yet, or just a sample 'first chapter'? It's a pet peeve of mine when people post 'XXX ch. 1' and never follow through with the sequels.

Still, I'll take a look if you want. Send a copy to flawed_ethics@yahoo.com.

I would be more than happy to take a look at your stories and give you feedback

Very thoughfull of you :)

I was thinking a while ago that no one could possibly reply to this thread, well here you are.
Ok, well I was looking for an editor, here sits two at my side, if they are still there?
Well since I sent in the first submission accidently as chain stories, which I didn't understand to be as 'anyone could write them' which I did not want, so now this second one will be a sort of flash back to the night Alyssah-Jayne and Peter first had a *Ahem*-you know, an it will be written from both sides of the story, meaning both Adam and Eve are going to tell there side of the "Night"...I want to reach both female and male readers-so that they can each be satisfied with thier fullest.
If you are still interested flawed_ethics, seeing that you posted your contact strait away.

Do they really?

Do any editors really edit? I've submitted a story to four different editors over a four month span. Only one has returned the story with any editing or corrections. When I read over the editing I found another error that I and that editor missed.

I have submitted two other stories in the past that I did not have edited. Even though I thought I had fully corrected for typos; I found some when I reread the story after posting. I was embarrassed by that I don't want it to happen again. I thought having an editor look at would be the way to go about it.

I understand these folks are volunteers but when someone agrees to do something they should do it in a timely fashion. It is unfair to make the writer wait weeks for a response that is not coming.

I haven't decided about submitting the story unedited. I am so disillusioned by the lack of response I may not submit the story at all.

To those editors who have looked at my story and not given a reponse. Shame on you!

Once again I'll give you the answer and advice I give to each and every writers who has that complaint about editors.......send a PM (not a mail) to Laurel and complain to her. She's the one who's got the power to change what is happening with the editors' list and to see what's going on with those editors not answering.

I don't know all the editors on the list but those I know (and even some that aren't on the list but still do some editing) do what they say they will do, in a timely manner, with good grace and go above and beyond what is asked of them to help.

Yes. That happens, often.

I did the typesetting for the order of service for the consecration of a church some years ago. It was some 28 pages. Eleven people proof read it, separately. When the great day came, I opened my copy and BANG! There was a typo we had all missed.

If you are still in need of a qualified editor, feel free to send me your story. I can use most text files or you can even cut and paste it to an e-mail.

Although I am not an "Official Lit Licensed Editor" I have edited a few stories that are now posted on Lit, and 429 on another site. None of this is paid work, all is done out of love for writing and reading.

I go out of my way to be timely but when working pro-bono, timely means "when I have time."

I miss some grammar mistakes; few, but some. Often when I re-read the posted version, I wish I had an edit button instead of a vote button at the end. Editors are human, not grammar machines.

I miss some spelling errors. My spell checkers can miss some words as well. Again, read any modern manuscript and you will find similar mistakes. A well edited story on Lit often is far more literate than modern news stories or novels.

Finally, erotica is the most difficult of fiction to edit. The author is often excited (very) about sections of their manuscript and the editor often wonders why.
The balance between keeping the writer happy, not changing his/her story and not embarrassing oneself as an editor can be a fine line to walk.

On behalf on every editors on this site I'm gonna thank you :) More often then not we get complaints that we're trying to change our writers and it's nice to see someone so appreciative once in a while. :rose:
