Searching for an Editor

Hi,

I have just been going through the list of editors and finding it difficult to locate what I want.
While the search facility does a reasonable job, I still found myself wading through pages of editors who did not match my needs.
I wonder then if the search facility can be modified to help.
I want someone who is interested in BDSM, who is good with grammar (my biggest failing), who is female and lives in the UK. Or am I being too specific?
I have managed to narrow it down to two people, one is in UK but the other I don't know.
Could sex and location be added as a search criteria?
The real shame is I found the perfect editor first time round, but have not had a response from them for months, so they have fallen off the radar.
Just the ramblings of an old man, who is a bit frustrated.

Ignore the editors list, is my advice. Many on there haven't set foot on Lit for months, if not years.

There is a thread each month where available editors post. Go through them and inquire through a PM.

A thread here as you did requesting help may also get a reply. Be sure your PM's are set to receive them.

:)

Good advice. How are you, ML? Good, I'm hoping.

As for the hopeful writer, I am currently busy, but send me a PM and I'll take a gander. I can get started mid-week of next week, the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

ML,
I noticed that afterwards, so will use in future.
However, what I aslo did was only look at profiles that had been updated this year and as near to the current date as possible.
I wonder if there is a way of editors being removed if they do not remain active, if only to update their editor profile.

That would be helpful to writers, but I'm thinking that Laurel is so busy with everything else that this might not be a priority. Just my thought.

Yes, that would be helpful to anyone needing an editor. AS is on the right track though. Laurel has other priorities keeping the site going.

I get the need to understand colloquialisms but many already know them and still why a woman? As a woman it makes me suspect.
I take on what has been said about how difficult it maybe and quite clearly not a priority.

But as to what Talyis said. Nothing suspicious. The story I have written has a strong female element and I want to make sure that I have got it right and that the story will appeal to the female audience on here as well as the male one.

I think I can cover the male side myself.
But making sure that it is intersting to females as well is harder for me to judge.

I would prefer the UK because time differences can be a problem as I have found out in other areas of internet discussions.

Also, there is an element of colloquialisms and spelling, but not as much as we all have spell check on the computer now.

I am sorry that my request for what would be ideal for me has caused you to be suspicious. There was nothing wrong in what I wanted, but thanks to your post I may now have problems getting that as you will make females wonder about what is a very innocent request.

From what was merely an observation about wanting to be able to have more parameters to source an editor, I now feel I have to justify my requirements.

I will have to stop now as the more I think about it the angrier it is making me and that someone who does not know me and based on a few sentences can make that sort of assumption.

Brush it off and forget about it.

:)

MM, as ML has already stated, your request is neither suspicious nor invalid. I've seen such requests before, and for reasons you have clearly stated. A woman's viewpoint does differ from a man, this is undeniable and also valuable.

Best of luck to you and hoping you find the expertise you desire.

First thank you Mistress Lynn and AsylumSeeker for the kind words.
I don't know why, but the post just started to get to me.
Have put it behind me and will continue the search.
