I was just looking at something that asked for a racial classification.

One of them was "Black - Origins in Africa"

Ok, now I have a few questions...

1. Isn't that redundant? Technically, at least at present, isn't it assumed that the fundamental origin IS Africa anyway?

2. There wasn't any other "Black" choice, so why elaborate.

3. What if you are a white person born in Africa? (there was a place for white born in North Africa, but not one for South)

I really need to get some sleep!

I hate those 'equal opportunities' forms...

I swear I still haven't gotten used to filling them out.
It wasn't until I came to England that I ever had to reflect on my ethnicity. You met people who asked you where you're from, and I'd answer Sweden. The first thing I'd get back was "Oh cool, but where are you ethnically from?" Guess it was a nicer way of saying what the Swedes said;"No, where are you REALLY from".

Is it really that important where I'm ethnically from??? I find the whole filling out forms thing stupid. I normally end up with other anyway...

If it's actually for equal opportunities, then shouldn't they skip asking at all? It doesn't become equal if you fill in your ethnicity, you become a statistic and they take you in to fill your quota...

Sorry, like I said, still haven't gotten used to it....:(

It looks like that was a leftover clarrification from olden days. Some "blacks" were Indian, both kinds.
