Off topic...but on topic...how about achievements? Like in video games. It's the same thing really as merit badges but just takes it a step further. I think it would encourage authors here to work out of their comfort zone. Each achievement would shownon the author page and profile page and be represented by a badge. Ideas would be:
A story in every category
10 hots
20 comments in one story
Contest winner
1000 votes on a single story
100000 hits on a single story
5 million hits total on all stories
5 new stories at the same time
40 total stories
10 part series
A story in 10 different categories
I think Boxlicker would like to have a say in the design of that oneI know the Mick Jagger Lips logo is copyrighted and all, but a Lit merit badge in that style would be one that I would be willing to get a tongue-on for. Just the ladies, mind you.![]()
When I was in the BSA, I took to knot-tying like a demon. It was the only thing that interested me, and I think I still remember all the knots.
The other thing I was good at--setting toy soldiers on fire and screaming, "Joe! Joe! Aiiiieeeee...!!"--they didn't give merit badges for.

I was never a Scout but I married a Girl Guide and she has had me in knots ever since!
I have a First Edition copy (1908) of Baden Powells Scouting for Boys. It has some interesting views on continence - sexual continence.
Have you been playing with my Dragon ?
If I remember correctly, Baden-Powell was a raging pedophile which was not revealed until his death. I bet the Scouts don't have a merit badge for letting the troop leader juggle your baby beans.![]()
