SCOTUS; All quiet on the Liberal front...

Well... to be honest.

I think at this point I would prefer a personal crony than a political one.

Seriously, the candidates have been 'reasonable' considering what the most vocal part of his party really wanted.

Okay... I don't know anything about Miers, but no one does.

Maybe she gave him a blowjob at one point and he's trying to keep her quiet.

Sincerely,
ElSol

Were that true, it would actually raise the Shrub in my esteem.

:D

I just heard W saying one of her leading qualifications is that she doesn't change her mind. An opinion held now will still be held twenty years from now or something like that. I can't help but think that being stubborn isn't that much of a virtue.

By the way, Amicus, income tax will not ever be declared unconstitutional, unless there is an amendment making it so. Income tax is part of the Constitutional, the 16th amendment.

Although I will never say anything in support of cronyism, nominating people you know personally doesn't seem all that bad.

Boxlicker...the 16th Amendment can be abolished as was the amendment prohiting the sale of alcohol. And since the Income Tax was originally rejected by the Supreme Court as violating the Constitutional restriction on a 'direct tax by capitation...' (if memory serves) then it is not an unreasonable hope of mine; unlikely, but not unreasonable...

I'm no fan of the income tax but I realize it can only be aboloshed by a constitutional amendment, which will almost certainly never happen, given the difficulty of the procedure. Prohibition was seen by virtually everybody as a monumentally stupid idea and the repeal still took a long time.

I wish I could foresee that the 'Income Tax' would once again be ruled, 'unconstitutional'.

Income Tax can't be 'ruled' unconstitutional; it's can't once 'again' be found to be unconstitutional.

It needs to be MADE unconstitutional.

A few minutes ago I saw the nominee on TV. Her face reminds me of either Beavis or Butthead. I don't know which one but it's the one usually shown in profile. :D

well the right may be in trouble. She may very well O'Conner them on their pet issues. I suppose I'm not liberal as I don't see it as a bad thing and also I see it as a neccessary thing.

What's the law on nominees again? Can't replace one with one who is less on this chart:

White man< minority man< white female< minority female< any eskimo

Actually, no...Bushie-tale was trying to replace a white female with a white male.

But then a white male died and the political world righted itself.
