As you all know I am the High Priest of my own pizza
religion. But I have recently seen a show on tv with John Travolta and his wife. They are both scientologists and seem nice. I know the man who created scientology was a friend of Robert Heinlien and the whole thing was some kind of bet. But I don't know much else about Scientology. I've found myself curious now. I know a decent amount about many other religions but pretty much nothing about this one.
Anyone know a good website or have some info on this religion? I could prob do a search and just find the main website actually but I thought I'd post a thread for a change:) Maybe see what a buncha Literoticians thought first. I must admit that any religion based on a sci-fi
writer kinda fascinates me. I have read all of Heinliens books many times but none of L Ron Hubbard or whatever his name is. I saw battlefield earth and wasn't to impressed (rat brain) but have contemplated reading the book as often movies totally thrash the books the originate from....Was starship troopers even vagely based on the original book?
Ok i'll stop rambling now......Slurp.

i dunno much about the actual beliefs, but the bet was whether or not L. Ron Hubbard could actually create his own religion.. Scientology is popular, meaning he lost the bet..

sad commentary on Scientology

oh, and read the book.. it's really long, but it's 1,000,000,000,000,000,000% better than the movie..

Thanks Mistress and scyliss

Sweet thanks:)
I'll read the book then. I prefer long books or series
even realm books like forgotten realms which use characters over and over again. I hate getting to know a character and then poof have no more books to read with him in it. I must mention that since moving to Washington my world has been rocked by the knowledge that California's Library system sucks donkey balls. Washington's Library system is so incredible not only can you get any books you want online from the library they will send it to your house....FOR FREE!!! FREE!! No joke....and they have like every book to. I've been searching for "I Jedi" for along time since I heard it was a really good book based in the star wars realm. I've really only read the books from Timothy Zhan who is a good sci-fi writer that I have read before. But I heard from friends this book was really good and have been looking for it in libraries and book stores for over a year. Anyway I move here go to the library and *poof* I request the book and 3 days later it's sent from another branch to my house....for free!!! This library system is worth moving to washington all by itself! I was so happy in the library I was bouncing around the library *grin*
Poor Siren was over trying to post on here to let you all know what was going on while I kept running up to her to tell her how awesome the library was. Anyway I'm ranting again sorry.....Slurp.
