I heard the low battery beep of a smoke detector.
(I pretty much have too many.)
So, I run around the house from alarm to alarm
trying to isolate (the word of the month) the
offending alarm. I had it narrowed down to
just one and I waited for the next beep
that just never occurred...

I cooked and ate breakfast - no beep.
Now, I'm back and comfortable again
secure in the knowledge, that the
damned thing is going to beep again.

I was making repairs so mom could sell the yuuuge "retirement" home and one of those infernal beeps went off. My Dad had wired the hell out if the place. Security, cat5, wired up detectors. Lots of them. Ceiling height probable 24' with weird acoustics in the dome.

Could

Not

Get

It

To

QUIT!!!

took the battery out of the security closet, back-up batteries out of everything I could find.

Finally, I climbed up and pulled all the many detectors.

STILL Beeped!

Turns out....

Was the power was briefly out signal in the fancy-schmancy built-in fridge.

I wanted to splurge on a full automatic fire suppression system so I never had to deal with the beep again.

I was called insane for wanting to spend that kind of money.

Went with a bunch of automatic fire extinguishers in key areas and only 2 alarms.

Yes

Two too many.

I should have just changed them all when I sprung ahead...

Yes, the best practice is to replace them all at the same time. That way when one goes they will all be near to going. Once you have the step ladder out you can just go around and make them all righteous again.

You are also correct in concluding that they will never go off if you stand on the ground looking at them. There are tiny little cats that live inside 9 volt batteries. They have 9 lives which is why they are called "9 volt" batteries. And as long as you are looking at them they use up their 9 lives knowing they can wear you down and you will leave so that they can die in peace... or live on. There is no way to know.

Didn't the ever ready batteries used to have a black cat on them?

I think it's the one in the kitchen;
it gets more of a workout.
Someone has no patience
when it comes to cooking
and is continually
setting it off...

I agree, I'd haver rather gone for the industrial grade alphabet agencies approved house system.

Cinder blocks and iron beams with a VCT floor would be an ideal interior design too.

Efficient, safe, clean.....sterile.

Buuuuut....the efficiency and safety cube was vetoed pretty quickly.

She wanted stuff like, decor and windows.

Time changes are probably a good schedule.

Claims to be a contractor, is unfamiliar with battery back up.

Do you usually wire them up to magic, Bob?

Goth is easier to make look clean
compared to Snow White's digs...

Never buy a white car.

If you remove all the batteries you'll never be bothered again. :D

True, but will the neighbors complain about the smell of barbequeed AJ mixed with a whiff of over done weenie dogs if the house catches on fire? I don't know if I'd chance that.

Comshaw

Yea, it's grown on me. The grey/black/purple color scheme works.

She went a little overboard with the bedroom set which is a bit of a pain to dust, but otherwise we're on the same page with keeping shit simple/clean/picked up.

The utilitarian/goth compromise is a good mach.
