Im not sure if there is a thread like this in the libary or somewhere else on here, so I figured I would make a new one. If there is one place, someone post the link for me. So onto the thread.....

My Mistress and myself are not what you would call the richest of couple. We are both young and in school and working. We both love BDSM. It is an intergral part of our life and we don't want to change that. So I was wondering if people could share their ideas of scenes that they do, that don't include a lot of different things that are going to cost us a ton. Or what kind of things that people like to do out there. Our fetishs are varied and we are still exploring many different areas. So feel free to join in.

I'm not familiar with a thread on this particular aspect of play, so ...

I bolded a key part of your original post. What you're interested in doing is going to control your costs to some extent. Something involving a St. George cross, for example, is going to cost more than just spanking, obviously.

Perhaps if you gave us some idea of what your primary interests are at this point in your lives, we'd be able to give you some suggestions on how to make some of those scenes work in the thriftiest manner. :)

What He said. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but if you're interested in, say, CBT then we have something to suggest. If you're interest is in inexpensive bondage, we can go from there.

Honestly, like anything else in life money can help, but money has almost no role in bdsm.

I can think of very few core fetishes that require any kind of expensive tools, and even those can often be made or substituted.

Gear doesn't have to be expensive. A $4.99 hairbrush or even cheaper wooden spoons are very effective. Skip the fetish shop and hit Home Depot. Get creative with costumes if you're into that. While I would never buy undergarments and such there, thrifts stores can hide some amazing gems. Ebay is a great source for fetish shoes and boots.

In other words, use your noodle. ;)

Noodle? That wouldn't hurt very much!

Well she is into CBT and pain. Me not so much. I like more bondage. We have a pair of handcuffs that we use, but they don't work well for prolonged bondage.

I don't know. Being made to kneel on those wagon wheel ones could be quite uncomfortable.

Oooh, sounds painful. You're right, noodles could hurt.

For bondage, ebay is a great place to start, or if you want rope bondage, you could try home depot, or hardware stores, you may not find rope as soft as some expensive bondage rope, but it works well. Also, you can find chain binders and slip links, chain, and other great things, use your imagination.

If you have any skill with tools, you can probably make most furniture or variations of it. Pet stores cary inexpensive collars that work, and possibly even ones small enough to serve for wrists and ankles.

Fabric stores can offer a wealth of options as well, silk for silk bondage or gags, you could make costumes if that is your thing.

A simple ball gag can be made from a children's pink bouncy ball, drill a hole in it to slip a rope or collar through it.

Arm binders could be made from sturdy canvas, cut and edged, with grommets and/or D rings to lace it around the arms.

Just look around in stores and use your imagination :)

All due respect, and so sorry, BUT ... i can't help but find this statement to be slightly amusing. :) Absolutely, no offence is intended of course. i can't comment on CBT though, neither He nor i are into CBT and it's a good thing that we are compatible in this sense (as i can only imagine that it would cause issues between us with Him being the Dom/Master who is NOT into CBT, and i being His submissive/slave, and female). :)

It does seems odd to me that it is you who is looking for suggestions to aid in exploring and determining interests and scene ideas, rather than your mistress. i do realize that the dynamics of every relationship are not the same, however. You could explore different types of play by reading selections from the Stories Section of Literotica. Have you ever sat down together and discussed your fantasies, and limits? Perhaps, participate in one of those 'interests & limits' quizzes together? There are a few out there online. Search Google . OR, visit the local Barnes & Noble book store and pick up a copy of "Screw the Roses, Send me Thorns". It contains a HUGE, very extensive questionaire, which lists almost every type of play, limits and interests, ... imaginable.

Yes, i agree, the metal type cuffs hurt me after a long while, and rarely in a good way. They are not always the best choice for enduring bondage over extended amounts of time.
Try the canvas type which secure with a wide strip of velcro. You may find that they are more affordable, especially if either of you is handy with a sewing machine. ;)
Or, soft cotton rope can also be used as an ideal replacement as cuffs, especially if you eliminate the chance of friction burns to the wrists/ankles by first covering their skin with a thick layered/folded piece of cotton material (held in place with medical or duct, or electrical tape).

If spanking is your thing, the possibilities of common household items is almost endless (large spoons, spatulas, hairbrushes, wooden cheeseboards .. the type with a handle, pingpong paddles, etc ect). Choose based on durability. i have had to toss so many good spoons and the like into the trash due to Him cracking them into two pieces over my bare ass. We love the dollar store. :D

Into clips for nipples, balls and such? The dollar store sells some FUN clips (potato bag clips, clothespins of course, and hair clips have tiny little teeth that BITE).

Never rule out Home Depot as your endless supplier of thrifty BDSM toys. i spied a tool for hanging wallpaper that resembles a Wartenburg Wheel for under $5.00 (i think it is for poking holes into the paper for the release of trapped air bubbles). EBAY sometimes has great deals too. We found our Wartenburg Wheel there, and it was CHEAP.

Budget Bondage

Yup, been there done that. A firend let me take a look at his grip cuffs. At $180.00 for the pair they are WAY too pricey for me. Soooo, I toddled down to the Lowes by my house. Got a dowel, two 24 inch lengths if chain and came home. Had to go back for the washers and bolts. d'OH!! Made a pair for myself that cost about $40.00. The most expensive item was the fake fur duvet from Goodwill that cost $15.00. I lined the inside with it, and also wrapped the dowel 3-4 times for the "grip" part. Looks fantastic! I gave them to my Hubby for a Valentines present. Still hoping to actually use them some day!!

I have also made a REALLY good whip myself. Got one of those flat wok type wooden spoons. Pierced holes in the end. Had some scrap leather belts around the house. Cut carefully into thin strips. Threaded the strips into the holes. wrapped it in leather. Ruber cement to hold it in place, and then whip stitching. To make more sting, I knotted the end of the leather. You can also use a belt for a whip. The braided ones can sting a LOT!! It you want to fancy it up, attatch it to a wooden spoon handle, wrap with felt, fake fur or leather. I made mmine in a couple of hours.

I got a dressmakers wheel from the fabric store for about $4.00. I have been told that it doesn't quite feel like a Wartenburg. I have never seen one myself, so I don't have any info on that.

My next project will be to make my own corset type garment. I am going to take a plain t-shirt. Have a friend help me "wrap it up" with duct tape. Cut it off down the front. Voila, a pattern for a corset to my EXACT MEASUREMENTS. cut the t-shirt duct tape pattern down the sides. Use the t-shirt/tape pieces for a pattern. I'll probably make my first one out of velvet lined with sturdy fabric. Fabric stores carry the stays for about $2.00 a yard. Not too bad price wise!!

Is there any style or type of gear that you are most interested in doing on the cheap??

As said earlier, childrens balls can make a dandy gag. A dowel with small eye bolts on the ends, and wide elastic for a neck band works great. I have made two different size bit gags this way. Wiffle balls can also be threaded easily to make dribble gags.

A pair of goggles from the hardware store works great for a blindfold. I sprayed mine with black spray paint. Light and sight eliminating for under $10.00. Doesn't compress the eyelids, so I find it comfier to wear.

Goodwil can be good place to find used silk ties, suit vests to make corset style bodices, etc.

here and I think most towns do now have and everything's a dollar store, you can find many wonderful items in them from time to time that can be used, such as wooden oven shovels, cheap hairbrushes, wooden and plastic clothes pins, pet toys, collars and leashes among other items you might can find a use for.

Walmart also offers some items that can be of wonderful use such as a toy paddle, ropes, chains, wooden rods, eye hooks, a wire wisk, brushes, combs, and hair picks for sensory play,a small tool box to use for storing your goodies, among other items if you just use your imagination.

Pet supply places like pet smart also offer lots of goodies, collars, tie out stakes, pet cages, chains, leashes, pet dishes.

A few goodies we have made ourself include a spreader bar, we went to walmart and bought a wooden dowel and some eye hooks put the hooks into the dowel and attached some cotton rope to it and it works wonderfully.

We also attached eye hooks into the door frame of our closet and the ceiling in our bedroom that we can hook the spreader bar to or hook handcuffs or rope or anything else to when the time is right.

We also created one of those F_ __ing machines that we see online, by taking a dildo and attaching it to a sawzall. The dildo was hollowed out filled with epoxy the blade was filed down smooth on all edges and slipped up inside the dildo and when the epoxy set it,it fit nicely onto the sawzall. and works wonderfully.

We've used handcuffs and cotton rope along with other types of rope for bondage play but I think my favorite is panyhose , you can also use scarves and ties.

anyway I am sure there are some more ideas and things we have tried hidden inside my head somewhere but they excape me at the moment.

Repost from the travel thread

I didn't find that yesterday, but my "cheapo pref" is pantyhose!
see below for why... :D

-------------- repost starts here ----------------

I am down to the essentials these days...
I am travelling so much lately, most of it air travel, that I am basically down to the "essentials" of a "non-suspicious, non-voluminous instant BDSM-kit" which contains...

*drum roll*

... several pairs of pantyhose.

Those are just perfect for everything...

they make blindfolds, they make nice gags, can be used as "ropes" (with the "feet" tied to hands and the "body-part" a big hard knot to go over (to be closed) bathroom doors for a kind of vertical bondage instead of horizontal on the bed which can be done even in the typical leg-less hotel bed by running them under the matress and tie wrists to the "feet" poking out left and right).

They make nice "humiliation devices" for the male sub meeting me for a first dinner out and being sent to the bathroom to put them on and return his undies into my hand instead, they make nice accessoirs in "sensation play" if put wet into the minibar freezer before the night starts ... oh, there is so much versatility in them ... and they are never picked up by airport security, no awkward questions even should your luggage be opened with your fellow business travelers around, and no worries should you ever have been a bit negligent with "cleaning up" afterwards and room service comes in ....

All else I usually take from there... I always have my hair brush for additional "spanking fun", there will be cloth hangers in the hotel, and you never know what other interesting thigs you might find...

Ohh, and if I remember I carry two cloth pegs for errrmmm ... well ... I guess you can figure that bit out *g*

I guess I would have a few additional items if I went to a real "play event", but truth to be told, the adavantage of hassle-free luggageless travel weighs up A LOT and if something specific is planned on the other end of the journey I usually will find a well stocked toy box there, and it is fun to have a few new things to play with from time to time anyway.

I guess I am just spoiled in that respect,
Hecate

------------------------ end of repost ----------------------

The biggest and most effective BDSM-tool I posess is my brain (I'd like to think anyway).

Combine "pantyhose bondage" with your dinner tabel - and "voila" you are all set for a base "medical scene" ... have you ever tried putting spoons intop the freezer and then tie them to male anatomy specific body parts? *no, you are imagining my wicked smile - I swear!* NOTE: watch closely - cold metal is VERY cold on sensitive skin and specially on the balls or in a vagina! I suggest starting with fridge temp only to test!

If you are into more "longlasting" things - why not let her shave you? Yes, I mean down there *g* .. a bit of foam and a cheap one way razor .. and you can have quite some fun .. and trust me, you will be reminded of your Mistress for a few days minimum *g*

gosh ... there are basically unlimited things you can do on low budget - cock rings from regular rubber band or - quite funny and slighly humiliating: hair scrunchies! *chuckling softly* can you imagine your toy boy walking round your home, nude, only wearing some pink / neon / fluffy / pearls or glitter etc. hair scrunchy round his cock?

There is always wax play - watch for low temp melting candles (check library as I amsure there is a thread about wax temperatures and candle colors etc)

Almost NOTHING you can't sort with a few lengths of rope from the DIY-shop (I am sure we had a thread about rope and what measures and qualities we all use)

Now - last but not least ... get your crop /whip not from the BDSM stores but from a tack shop (is that the right word for the horsie stuff suppliers?) that is much cheaper and just as much fun.

OK .. I'll stop here before I take the fun out of your own exploring .. anyway... there is LOADS and LOADS of fun bits all around - and it is half the fun exploring and finding those bits!

Enjoy - have fun .. and share your findings with us.. there is always something I may not have thought about yet!

Hecate
