Couldn’t find a place to put this so here it is. It’s spooky season again and I decided to make a thread asking for spooky, weird, odd or scary real life stories. Personal involvement would make the story much better but I’d be fine with this happened to a friend of mine stories too. But please don’t tell a friend of my cousins sister… type story.

Here’s mine.

When I was I think 12-14 years old my parents decided to convert our attic to a second living room/play room kind of space. We were not wealthy by any stretch but my dad was able to acquire a used pool table from a local bar that was buying new ones so he got a great deal. The only downside to this was we had to carry it upstairs, in pieces, which were quite heavy. It took a few days to get everything set up but it was worth it, or so we thought. Nothing was special about the pool table or the pool cues but we got the pool balls from my grandparents house. They haven’t had a pool table for a long long time, and it was just sitting in their house and they offered them to us, with the caveat that they could come over and play sometimes. My grandpa was a bit of a shark, he didn’t seem like he’d be a pool player but was crazy good. Obviously I was a young teenager but he kicked my ass in pool more times than I can count. But I digress… one weekend shortly after getting things set up my cousin was staying with me and we were up late watching tv in the living room with the volume turned way down to keep from waking anyone and we heard the sound of someone playing pool upstairs. At first we blew it off, but the next morning we went up to play and despite the fact that I know we had put everything away, there were pool balls scattered on the table, as if someone had played recently. There was also a smell, I know now as cigars, in the air. None of my family smoked, none the less cigars, so it was an odd smell. We cleaned up, thinking not much of it. Over the next few months it kept happening, I’d hear the sound of playing pool upstairs and later would come up to a filled table. Nothing odd aside from that ever happened, just sometimes coming up to a weird smell and scattered pool balls. I asked my grandpa about the origin of the pool balls and he told me he got them from a VFW many many years ago. Nothing scary other than that ever happened. And despite having many friends over who witnessed it, my parents denied it. Accusing us of forgetting to put things away. Randomly one weekend one of my friends accidentally broke on of the balls, doing stupid teenager things, so we replaced the whole set, giving the remainder back to my grandpa. After that it never happened again. I know it’s not scary but it was a odd/weird thing I remember from childhood.

I’m totally a non believer in everything supernatural and paranormal - from god to ghosts. But I have stayed in a haunted house in Portsmouth. So fucking spooky
I believe in several paranormal or supernatural things, but from a scientific and empirical point of view. Like Bigfoot. We know that Gigantopithecus was a real animal that matches up almost perfectly with eyewitness accounts of Bigfoot. We also have found many species that were previously considered extinct, like the Coelacanth. So I'm absolutely able to believe that gigantopithecus has survived in the unexplored/undeveloped areas. And I feel the same way about ghosts. All of our thoughts are just electrical impulses firing across synapses in our brain. And there is countless evidence, including convincing video of ghosts. So while we may not fully understand them, I absolutely believe that ghosts are just the electromagnetic manifestations of people who died. Quantum physicists are trying to prove that there are other dimensions (not parallel universes, just spaces and forces we can't currently perceive, like we can't see ultraviolet light without specialized equipment) that we can't currently measure or experience, but we are interacting with unknowingly, so it's possible that our electromagnetic energy survives and is sentient or at least transient in a fifth dimension that intersects with our four (height, width, depth, and time). Unfortunately, I've never had any encounters myself. But I would certainly love to.

I had a friend of a friend who told me about weird things that would happen in the house he was renting.

While he and his girlfriend would have sex, a dark figure would watch from the doorway.

I'm not sure I believe him but hey, I wasn't there.

Or was I?

No, it wasn't me.

We used to have an odd man we'd see on occasion...When I was 10, one day I stepped out my back door, and he was standing there! The old bastard held his hands together as though he was going to choke me..and hollered, "I'm going to kill you!" Scared the hell out of me. My father said, "Oh that's just old Crazy Walter, he won't hurt you."

My parents house has some…odd things that have happened over the years. Too many to relay here but some are very interesting to say the least! I can explain some of them…others?

My dad passed in this house he owned for 51 years about five yrs ago. It wasn’t long before things started happening. My kids and myself were taking turns staying with my mom for the first three or four months to help her transition. My oldest had his turn in the barrel, and this was the first “happn’n”…

My dad always would get up and make the coffee in the morning. On this day my mom gets up and a fresh pot is sitting there steaming. My son had left for work, and so later that night over supper my mother says “thanks for making the coffee this morning!” My son, baffled, says “I didn’t make the coffee😳!”

The one “oddity” I witnessed personally from a visitation from dad was in his shed. He had extended the front by 12 feet but left the motion sensor light up. When you walk in it comes on. After he died, when you walked in, it would blink rapidly! Almost like Morse Code being sent. One night we’re in there looking for some tool to work on something and my son and I are squatting down under this light…that’s blinking when we walked in, but then went dark. I’m fiddling with whatever we were working on and just blurt out, “it’d be nice to have some damn light to see…”. At that exact moment the light pops on and stays on till we left! Thanks Dad! 😂

Now some will say…wait, those can be explained…you’d be right. We chose to believe 😊

Almost everything has a rational explanation. Doesn't mean that explanation is correct.
