Even steam has a bit of an odd smell. I use to live a couple miles from a gas fueled energy plant that emitted large quantities of steam. Also, those energy plants aren't exactly quiet in their operation.

The emissions issue aside, those towers ruin the sight line.

Sightlines are an emotive issue in UK planning law.

You have NO right to an unobstructed sightline. The most you can protest about is loss of light or overlooking but the rules for that are very precise. If the proposed building is 3 yards away - tough for loss of light. If a window is fifteen yards away? Overlooking doesn't count.

People constantly try to oppose planning applications because their country view is lost. They haven't a hope.
