It was good. Reese thought she was fucking brilliant. She started talking about her sister, the first thing coming to her head. She didn't look as if anything were wrong, that was helpful. He needed that time, that distraction.
She wiped herself off, moving, the envelope left at her feet. He was thankful, get her out of that room as much as he could. She stared at the steel, unnoticed. Yes, she knew, she knew everything. As she moved past him, uncaring, he moved into the bathroom, his eyes tight, glancing.
What was she saying? Reese couldn't understand it, not all of it. She seemed, what, disappointed? He didn't know, didn't care. He just wanted her out of danger, looking in the bathroom. The sink, with tiny cabinet couldn't hide anything. The bathroom curtain was open wide enough to see inside. No one in there either.
She grabbed his gun, putting it to her chest. Reese yanked it away, glaring at her like some child that had grabbed at the first thing that was shiny and golden. He gave her a hard tug, shutting her up in an instant.
How long could someone keep that ruse up. She looked absolutely peaked. Maybe all of this with her sister really had started to get to her. Reese couldn't deal with that now.
He opened the door wider, looking inside the bathroom. There was another closet, a small one where the towels and everything were held. He let two bullets slip through the empty wicker paneling. On the other end he head a grunt, and then a drop to the floor.
Opening it, showed a man dressed in too much black, a gun lay in his opened hand. Reese breathed a sighof relief. God, he had been so close to Sophia. A few seconds more, and he might not have seen her alive. The man was watching her soap herself up. Perhaps that is what kept her alive, her wonderful thighs and pouty lips.
A miracle is a miracle, don't try to examine it, just thank the gods and move on.
Reese unloaded the gun, placing the extra bullets inside the clip, as if the mission wee nothing more to him than two bullets.
The note he had been given lay discarded on the bed:
There is someone in your room. I saw him enter earlier. Take caution
"Now," Reese said, putting his gun away, "What in the world were you talking about?"
