Saving the World One Bra at a Time

Gabi found a package of saltine crackers. There were two crackers in it. She opened the cellophane. She munched on the first cracker while she eyed her long lost mother warily. That cracker seemed fine so she ate the other one too.

Reese showed up with his ginseng tea. Damn stuff smelled like dirt infused root but it was supposed to be good for you so she took it wondering what Reese was playing at. Only a month ago she'd thought they had something that could develop. Now he was acting like a totally different, simpler person. She wanted the old Reese back. Gabrielle thought about slapping him to see it that would jar anything loose but she just didn't have the energy.
She looked at her mother again.

The woman looked mostly the same. Sure it had been years but though her mother hadn't taken care of Gabi, she'd clearly taken care of herself. She never saw her mother in this way before, sort of slutty and deadly. She shrugged.

"Sure, if you want to patch me up go ahead." She worked at keeping another bitter laugh inside herself. Nothing could patch me up, she thought.

Her mother worked on Gabrielle's face while she stoically stood there and occasionally sipped her tea. Her stomach was feeling more settled but she was exhausted. She wondered how long the flight was going to be.

That was soon answered by the flashing sign and warning to buckle their seats for landing.

Cassandra washed away the blood with hydrogen peroxide, though something told her Gabriella would have wanted the stinging pain of alcohol, but Cass wasn’t going to do that. Once the blood was gone she smoothed over butterfly band-aids on her daughters cuts on top of the antibiotic she’d smoothed on.

“I never would have done this to you. That wasn’t how it was supposed to work. I died. I wasn’t told anything about your father, or you girls until later. By then I was so woven into trying to overthrow the ones that forced me to leave you, I thought it was better where you both were. I wasn’t told you were being shuffled around. I didn’t know that otherwise I would have come for you and taken care of you,” she bit her lower lip as she spoke.

Cass wasn’t sure what made her launch into the spill but she did. “Olivia, your aunt, worked for your father, keeping tabs on you girls for him. I don’t know why he didn’t come for you either. . . you’ll have to ask him that. Olivia found out I was alive and continued watching you girls after she faked her death to leave your father.” Cassandra sighed. “I know none of this makes since, hell, I’m telling it and it still doesn’t make sense.”

She placed the first-aid supplies away and looked back at her daughter. “Just know. . . when I faked my death, I had no clue all of this was going to happen. I knew you girls were special, the virus and all. . .it had been foretold long ago, but not all this. All this spy shit. . .I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy’s kids.”

Cass squeezed Gabriella’s hand and then returned to the plane. She sat down not looking at Mark or Tom. She had taken a moment while she had been taking care of her daughter to think about the span of time between the two men and she knew that it was more than likely Tom who’d hurt her daughter, but Mark wasn’t innocent. . . he was far from it.

She buckled herself in and returned Alex’s hand to her inner thigh.

She endured her mother's first aid. Gabi drank her tea. She listed to the confusing story her mother told. Her mother was absolutely right. It didn't make sense.

Just a short while ago, she'd been dying. Her mother had come to her like an angel then. It hadn't been real. Her mother wasn't dead, wasn't an angel. But oh, how she'd longed to touch her mother then. Her mother squeezed her hand. Her mother was actually taking care of her a little. Gabrielle didn't know how to deal with that so she didn't. The contours of her face hardened into sharp lines. Then her mother left her again to go sit near her father. Her heart actually hurt, ached with pain, a feeling of dread, fear and anger jumped into her throat and stilling her as she watched the woman walk away from her. Well, at least she knew how to handle being walked away from. She did it everyday.

She walked down the aisle giving a little wan smile to her sister but the rest she gave her best blank faced look to.

Gabi went back to Mark. Things had to get better sometime, right? She told that to herself but she didn't believe it. When did things ever get better in her life? Gabrielle all but collapsed into the leather chair. she rubbed her cheek on his chest and closed her eyes.

"I know you must be wondering what that was about. He and I have a little history we're trying to sort." She said just loud enough for Mark but no one else to hear.

Mark looks irritatedly at Cass. She doesn't need to threaten to shoot him to get him to let her take care of her daughter. Just so long as someone bloody well does. He gulps the tea he is given after seeing the others sip at it and not get fucked up.

He waits then, closing his eyes though not asleep. When Gabi curls up against him his heart strangely picks up its pace. Just a little. But he notices it like he'd notice a dagger being shoved into him. His arm slowly and somewhat loosely wraps around her. He waits, wondering what she will do at that. When she doesn't immediately move his arm away he sighs. Maybe in relief. He does not know why she is curling against him, nuzzling him as lovers do. Were she not a spy, were they not on a plane with other spies he'd assume she felt something for him. But, she is. And they are. So it may be nothing. Regardless, he basks in the closeness of another.

His voice is pitched low when he responds. "I see. Well, I wanted to shoot him. You realize that? Right at the base of the skull. Not just because it's my assignment though. It'd be an easy enough way to sort it." Mark grins, somewhat ferally but then looks sober. "It's not really my business. Though I still don't trust him. And would rather put a bullet in his brain."

He makes sure his seat belt is fastened, as well as hers, his hand sliding across her afterwards. Where someone to be so inclined it could be called a gentle, even tender caress. He doesnt think about it.

"Ahhh, Florida, ain't she a bitch." Tom couldn't help but be the first one off the plane. Tensions had just run too high in there. Too many people turning into little vagina's filled with sand. Those sandy vaginas got irritated and took it out on everybody else.

Why the need to feel so down and out? Perfect health, perfect heart, and the world at his fingertips.

Speaking of which, Tom had to go up next to Reese. Some things needed to be said.

"I understand you are acting a little... different lately. Now, I know how that goes. I mean, I myself have tried to turn my life around for a little piece of tail. I don't know if this approach is working though. Tea and hugs? I mean, that's weak, even for bhuddists. They would take one look at you and think you're a pussy, dude, hands down."

Tom put his arm around Reese, and brought him down the stairs into the limo.

"Mind you that was some good tea. I ain't complaining. I just feel like maybe you need a different approach. You should bite her, fuck her in the ass, rape her mouth as she tried to scream out at you and in the end, throw a wad of dollar bills into her face and leave her to pay the hotel bill. I mean that's what I'd do for..."

He stopped, looking back up at Gabrielle, and then smiled.

"Well, wait, that might work for the wrong sister. Sophia? She probably does need to be wined and dined. Come on, let's talk some more in the limo."

Sophia

Sophia followed Reese and Tom, her eyes on her former partner and her former lover. She didn’t trust Tom, so she was sure it was no surprise when she slipped up to Reese and took position at his side. She had heard just the last few words of his comment and wondered what he meant about needing wined and dined. She hooked her arm through Reeses’ and though it may have looked like a tug of war for a man, it wasn’t. What is was. . . Was simple. She wasn’t about to let Tom get into Reese’s head. Reese was in a place right now that Sophia didn’t understand and she’d be damned if Tom fucked him up further.

“Tom. . .I don’t think he needs your help. Rape. . .just isn’t his thing remember. That’s your style.” She sneered at him and pressed closer to Reese.

“Come on Hon, I really want to talk to you about some thing I’m thinking about.” She stayed with him and when they reached the limo she slid in and waited for him to join her. She watched Tom and Reese. She wanted out. She’d made the decision, now she just needed to see if Reese would help her and if Gabi would come with her.

She watched the jet and waited to see the others leave the expensive piece of equipment. Her fingers curled into small fists and she found herself one step closer to freedom, now that her decision to leave was made.

Cassandra walked off the jet and welcomed the heat and the humidity. Normally she wouldn’t, but the trip on the jet wasn’t a pleasant one and she wanted a real bed and a real pillow. She found herself curious as to the compound that Alex was taking them too. She knew all the big players and where they lived in the Glades as well as all the key cities and even some of the minor overlooked places. She wondered how she’d missed Alex’s dwellings.

She slipped into the limo, using the opposite side that her daughter had. Cass made special note of the two men standing outside the limo and angled her head. She wondered what had gotten up Tom’s ass and what had jumped out of Reese’s to make the two men, ones she didn’t quite recognize. Sure she knew Tom was rough. She’d hired him for several jobs, but something seemed almost sick about him now. Reese. . .that was a mass of confusion. He seemed as if his brain had wilted and nobody was home.

She sat opposite of her daughter in the stretch limo and sighed. “You okay? Your sis. . .is. In case you were wondering.” She noticed that Sophia barely wasted a glance at her. Her attention on the jet and Reese. Cass pushed her hair back and bit her lower lip.

“More tension,” she thought to herself. She was almost anxious to get somewhere private so she could call in her team. There were things she needed to find out about Alex and how he’d been able to keep his home in Florida under wraps.

Gabi just nestles against Mark, eyes closed and lets him take care of her a little. It's not her normal way of doing things. She isn't sure exactly why she does this but she just feels vulnerable, more so than when she was dying, or all those years from foster home to foster home to street or the time that she was nearly executed by firing squad. Something is different and in a way more fearsome than any of that. It's not comfortable.

She takes a deep breath and just waits for the plan to land. There will be more once they are on land. Right now she'd give just about anything to simply disappear.

Gabrielle waits even after the plane lands. She waits and holds back from moving. She doesn't want to deal with whatever comes next. Eventually everyone is off the plane except for her, Mark and dear old Dad. She takes another deep breath. She feels trapped.

The limo is visible from the plane window. The idea of getting into even closer quarters with everyone there seems suffocating. She digs her nails into the palms of her hands, the pain is good, it will help her focus.

"Well of course we can talk. I would love to hear anything you had to say."

Reese sat beside her, glad to be away from Tom for the moment. He wasn't sure, the man made sense at times, but at other times he was just scary. Reese had never felt scared of anyone, or anything else before, but he felt scared now. It was a rare treat his poor mind had dove into to make him this way.

"I thought you didn't want to talk to me. You seemed so... distant. I made you tea, though. I hoped you liked it. It is good tea, supposed to help with memory and making decisions."

Reese placed a kiss upon her brow, and let his arm wrap around her. He whispered in her ear.

"What is it you wanted to talk about?"

Alex watched them leave one by one until Gabriella and Mark were all that were left. He eyed them, watched how Gabriella leaned into the man and he sneered. Another dumb fuck to screw with his daughter’s heart and mind, he couldn’t allow it, not really. He had to remove the thorns from the operation and he wondered if Mark would be the first thorn he’d rid himself of. He saw that neither one was planning on moving and that irritated him further. He sighed and moved to the couple still seated.

“Gabriella,” he smiled warmly down on her. “We need to go,” he took her hand and waited for her to stand.

“Mark,” he said cooly. “You’ll understand that You will be leaving ahead of me. It is my jet after all. Can’t let you stay behind. . . no matter how appealing that sounds.”

He wasn’t sure what it was about the young man that crawled under his skin and burrowed itself deep, but something was. He even noticed how everyone was weary of him. Sophia had shot him looks that only a dagger could be considered the weapon boring into his chest and Cass wasn’t looking at him like a lost lover wanting to rekindle the flame either. Tom and Reese, the ball was out in left field with them, but he had an idea that Tom didn’t care for Mark either.

“This could work to his advantage,” he thought to himself as he waited for his daughter to come with him and for them both to follow Mark out.

Gabi felt trapped but her father's smile, words and touch were compelling to her somehow. This in spite of her pain, anger and suspicions. It surprised her. Jolted by this, she stood up.

She couldn't understand why everyone had to be so unpleasant. Her father was being nice to hurt for now but to Mark he wasn't. Fucking men and their pissing contests. She'd hoped her father would be above that somehow. In her mind, while he'd been dead, he'd been better than that. They were all spies, killers and actors who had to be ruthless. What trust could any of them have with one another? What real feelings could they have? She shook her head slightly.

Why the FUCK did she feel so bad?

She walked with her father and Mark. Her father's was touch sending almost subliminal messages to the hurt little girl hiding inside her.

She gave Mark a little smile. She felt like she might be sick again.

Mark just looks bemusedly at Alex. "Down old man. I do not have any evil designs at the moment. Just protecting Gabi. And Sophia of course." He steps out of the plane just before Gabi. He has a feeling he can trust her right at his back, not so with Alex. But then again, who knows? He thinks he can.

He stays close to her, hand in his pocket, feeling ill at ease. Reese seems to be a nutcase and everyone else but Gabi has, since theyve left, seemed to be less than pleasant towards him. He does not blame them though. It is the spy business. It's what they do. Cass knows him. Sort of. She knows his file even if she no longer knows what will make him tick. That's fine with him. Tom has twice now been at the wrong end of his weapon and twice Gabi has saved the man's life.

He isn't sure what he thinks about that. His free hands slides to hers, squeezes gently, returning her smile though hers seem strained. He makes sure Alex doesn't get behind him and has a feeling he is not going to stay in the man's home. Too much can go wrong. And he feels ill at ease, like there are spiders crawling down his spine.

She trembled when his breath ran over her ear. “Damn,” she thought to herself. He can’t do that, she shifted slightly, but kept herself pressed against him. She knew her father probably had the limo bugged, she would if it was hers. Sophia leaned in and whispered back to Reese.

“Later at the house... I want help. I want out. Find me a way, please.”

She then sat back and kept one of his hands in hers. She’d ask Gabi tonight too. She wanted Gabi to know what she was doing. She need her to know and mostly she wanted her to come with her.

“Wouldn’t that be wonderful,” she thought to herself. “She and her sister, just two women on a beach, soaking up the rays.”

Her eyes went toward the jet and she saw Mark, her sister and their father finally coming down the stairs. Mark looked either pissed or cocky she wasn’t sure which and Gabi looked lost. Alex, their father looked calm and collected, like nothing in the world could faze him.

She shivered over that look. Something told her that he had something up his sleeve and he wasn’t afraid to use all means necessary to fulfill his agenda. After all... he’d used his own daughters to gain government information, they just didn’t know it till now.

Sophia settled herself back against Reese and squeezed his hand, one more long tension filled ride for the group of informants and misfits. She closed her eyes and let herself imagine a different life, one with Reese and her sister. As an after thought she looked up at Reese, “It was good tea, Hon.”

"Damn right it was good tea," Reese said and smiled at that, sighing as he rested his head on her arm. It did seem like everything was perfect, didn't it? He could not help but feel content for this moment.

And it was so sad, because right then Reese realized he had never felt content before. His life had been nothing more than a series of high tension situations that left him on the edge over and over again. They railed at his heart, pushed against his soul and left him half of the man that he was now.

He looked at the rest of these people, and realized they were all the same. Each one lived half lives... as if they were all superheroes without secret identities.

Isn't that why Superman needed a secret identity? Reese thought it was so. He remembered a discussion about Superman, and why didn't he just be Superman all the time, fly around, save the day, why be Clark Kent?

Because if Superman was Superman all the time he would just go insane. That was the only thing too it. He needed to be a regular guy once in a while, he needed to interact normally with humans if for just a few seconds out of the day.

All of these people have lived the life of Superman for so long, they had forgotten every once in a while they needed to be Clark Kent.

Maybe that's why Sophia said she wanted out. He could help her get away, make her feel normal again. It wasn't hard, would be pretty easy, actually. He could help her, and then they would both leave this stupid half-life together.

With those pleasent thoughts, Reese snuggled deeper against Sophia and closed his eyes.

He fell into a light sleep.

Cassandra noticed Sophia clinging to Reese and she felt her cackles rising. “Sophia had done it again,” she thought to herself. “She's gone and fallen for that man again.” She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It looked like it to her. “Foolish woman, wearing her heart on her sleeve.”

She looked back at the Jet, watching the others come closer to the limo. She loved Alex, but she wasn't stupid. She knew he was crooked. . . damn, they all were. But she was also willing to keep a part of her from him, just like he did her. Right now he was in control of things, or so it seemed, but eventually control has its way of slipping out of one hand in into another. . . preferably hers.

Her eyes moved to Tom and she studied him. She wondered how long he'd been fucking her daughter and what he felt about being the boy toy pushed to the side lines. Perhaps he would make an interesting partner, someone to deal with the Reese and Mark. There was something in Tom she hadn't tried yet and she found herself curious as to what lie underneath the asinine character he portrayed.

There was a mini-bar in the limo and she reached over, opened the door and found a trial size bottle of schnapps. She smirked and downed half the contents and then sat back and waited for the ride to begin.

Once Alex reached the limo he opened the door and the others were there. He slipped in and order the driver to take them to his home. He sat next to Cass his hand on her thigh, slowly inching his fingers up and then down the inner muscle. He was almost tempted finger her slippery cunt in front of the girls and these boys, show them how his wife liked to fuck, but he held out, not out of respect for his woman, but out of the desire to make them hungry with want. He knew those men wouldn't hesitate to spread his wife's pussy open and plunge into her, but he wasn't willing to add to their fantasies.

He did however keep his fingers moving. Little circles and then pinches were delivered to her flesh and he could feel her heat escaping her.

It was two hours later that they were pulling into the darkest and thickest parts of the glades. “One more trip folks and we're home. ”

The boat was there and he piled them all in before once more they were off and heading deep into the alligator filled waters. There were snipers waiting to plug anyone that some much as thought of jumping ship and when the motor was killed the Captain slowly drifted it into a beautiful cove that could have come out of a watercolored painting. “Welcome friends. There's the main house, you can stay there and two guest houses. Enjoy yourselves, and we'll dine in style for the evening meal. I've men everywhere, surveillance equipment as well. . . enjoy your stay.“

He took Cass' s wrist and pulled her along. “Come on Cassandra, there is a room I'm dying to show you.“

Surely this was hell.

Gabi couldn't believe her father was being so obscene with her mother. She'd thought her mother looked whore-ish and now this. She wanted to scream. She dug her nails into her palms.

Gabrielle exchanged glances with her twin. The look said, do see how twisted this is? Does this disgust you as much as it does me?

She sighed and tried to feign sleep, during the long two hour fucking limo ride. At least she could get some rest even if sleep wouldn't truly come. Then perhaps she would feel like her regular self. If her parents would stop being so nauseating.

She thought about when she'd first seen her sister after so many years apart. She thought about how she'd been attracted to Sophie and thought it might be a strange new sexual thing. Gabi had never been with women much except for one undercover job in Prague. Her mother was quite attractive too. Gabrielle flashed back to the soft kiss she'd shared with that other female agent when they'd had to and wondered. Everyone in the car was attractive, on the outside at least, until they did something or said something that made her want to kill them.

Her opinion and hopes for a cautious detente with her parents was plummeting. Her father could have had her in the palm of his hand if he'd behaved differently. She would have liked him to have eschewed the standard macho crap of most males but no, he didn't. Now this ongoing obscenity show. She had half a mind to fuck anyone and everyone in the car. She thought about taking it a step further than he was she could outdo what he was doing but she wouldn't. He was supposed to be her father for God's sake! What the hell did he think he was playing at?

She rested as well as she could. Her blue eyes were closed until the limo closed. She wouldn't watch this debauchery.

The boat ride made her even sicker. When they got to the complex her father acted grand before pulling their mother away to do heaven knows what.

Gabi looked around at the others. Reese, Soph, Tom and Mark, what were they thinking she wondered? She looked for the men her father had talked about. Her mind was drawing a schematic of the place noting any obvious security. This was as automatic to her as breathing. Right now she felt a little short of breath though. She wanted to see everything but she wasn't sure she was up to it. She felt incredibly tired.

Sophia had no desire to be near her parents. The display that her Father had put on had made her nauseated and the fact that her mother had not done anything to stop it, only fueled her feelings. She looked at her sister and saw she felt the same thing.

“Two guest houses?” she told herself.

She looked to Reese and wanted to keep him with her, but she wasn’t to sure how to do that and keep the other two men from coming with her when she tried to get her sister to come with them as well.

She squeezed Reese’s hand and told him, she hoped he’d stay with her in one of the guest houses. She then left his side and went to Gabi’s.

“I want to talk to you. Just you and me, but I don’t trust Reese’s state of mind right now with the others and I’ve asked him to help me with something, but I want your input too. . .Would you stay with us. I mean at least for a while. I want to connect with you again. . . please?” she asked her sister.

Sophia waited to see what Gabi would do. After all there were two of her lover’s here and they both seemed determined to make themselves known. She wondered if they were like male peacocks, opening their plumage and trying to gain the favor of the nearest female.

Cassandra allowed Alex to lead her from the others. When they reached the inside of the home she spun around and slapped his face hard. The sting caught her off guard, but the fury in her eyes didn’t hide the anger she was feeling.

“I don’t mind playing your whore in the bedroom, but I’ll be damned if you cheapen me in front of the girls ever again,” she yelled at him.

Her chest rose and fell as she stared at the red mark on his cheek. Her hand still stung and she sneered at him in disgust. “You show me the surveillance equipment you have, so I know what is going on with my girls. I want it all Alex. I want every explanation you’ve kept from me since you waltzed back into my life.”

“Then. . .you can show me your room.”

Alex's face smarted. His sex though was aroused more then it had been in the limo. “Welcome back, doll.” He grinned and watched as several of his staff walked toward him. They looked like everyday folks, but were in fact, armed with semi-automatics and skilled with various weapons.

He waved them off and they disappeared just as quickly as they’d appeared. “This way Dear,” he told his wife.

He led her to the back of his home and then took a hallway on the left, that ended at the entrance of what most would consider a simple library, however if one looked close enough they would see the room was actually shorter then it should have been. He pressed a code into a screen and the south wall shifted to the left. Light spilled out and he waited for Cassandra to walk in, once inside he pressed another series of codes and the wall closed them in.

The room was simple. A desk sat against the far wall, three computer screens were facing the chair and a number of screens were attached to the wall opposite of the desk. “Come’er, and I’ll show your girls to you.”

He took a seat at his desk, offering his lap for his wife, then punched in a few commands and the screens lit up. They showed every angle of his compound and his daughters were right where he’d left them, as were the men. “Not in a hurry to leave are they?” he muttered. He looked at Cass, his lap still empty.

“Now. . .If you want to know everything. . .You’ll have to cooperate Cass. You know that. Come here.”

Mark continues as he has done, watching and listening for the most part. He looks to Gabi. "I'll be around. I'd rather stay next to you where I can help if there is trouble myself. But do as you need to obviously."

"Not like I'm your family or spouse or anything important like that after all." The last is muttered, pitched low so that not even Gabi. in front of and closest to him should be able to hear, but then, many have very good hearing.

"Guess I'll be in the other guest house trying to sleep then. Unless anyone has issues with it?" He resituates the duffel bag upon his shoulders that he pulled from the lab, filled with his toys of the trade.

He looks directly at Gabi, making it rather plain that he doesn't give a fuck if anyone else wants him somewhere other than her side. Sophia has reese guarding her back and the two seem tight. So he doesn't really worry about her. The only reason he's still at Gabi's back is that he was assigned as her bodyguard. Or at least that's what he tells himself. He ignores the fact that there is more to it.

"You need me, Sophia," He said as he finally picked up a small bag and hooked it around his neck. He gave her a smile, knowing she didn't want to have him near her, talking with her, not with what she had planned, but that wouldn't change things.

"You wanna talk alone, by yourself... don't you?" He pointed at the grounds though, where camera's and people counted in the dozens.

"I will bet you dollars to pesos they are inside as well. Camera's, bugs, everything he needs to keep an eye on you from now until we leave."

He reached into the bag, grabbing one of the small surplus items he had taken before they left for the helicopter on the building. It had lots of little tectile devices, some guns, ammo, gernades...

And, he took out a small cylinderical device with a pin on the top. It looked like a concussion gernade, only smaller.

"So, unless you want whatever you have planned to fall right into Daddy's lap, I think my original statement still stands. With my help, you can talk to your sister, and Reese without anyone seeing or hearing. All I ask in return is that I am there as well. A small price to pay for absolute freedom."

He gave her a wink, "You need me."

Gabi looked at Soph, wondering what was on her mind. She'd have loved to spend time alone, just the two of them but Reese was a problem. Not only was he not the cool scheming Reese she'd once been attracted to, the one who'd flirted with her on a daily basis for years but now he was hers if she wanted him. The idea of sharing a guest house with him and her sister wasn't exactly one that Gabrielle found palatable. She wasn't even sure they could trust Reese now.

Hell she'd never been sure she could trust Reese. Death was always close to him, death, sex and secrets. Or at least that's how the old Reese was. Now who knew? Now he was quite possibly a wash up, dangerous to them in a whole different way, riding his reduced mental perceptions to the grave. She wasn't going to be pulled in along with him. Maybe if she slapped him real hard or fucked him, he'd wake up? No, that wasn't her job. He wasn't hers to love and protect. He had chosen the good sister, the light rather than the darkness. Maybe opposites do attract. Reese used to be dark too. It puzzled her how Reese could help Sophia with anything in his current state.

She started to answer while her fatigue threatened to pull her down. Gabi really needed to rest some more. She wanted to lie down and feel safe. Not that feeling safe was ever something that she had, not since she was four anyway.

Now she knew, her mother was a spy, a slut and would let their father do anything to her in front of them. Now she knew her father was a letch and a power monger. The reunion wasn't going well. She wanted out of this reality. She wanted pain and to smell something other than bull shit, gun fire perhaps, anything would be an improvement.

Mark spoke up. Gabrielle studied him anew as he spoke and shifted his gear. She could feel an unspoken message there but maybe her imagination was running away with her.

Then, just after Mark, Tom spoke, giving them some of his trademark blackmail with a smirk.

She shook her head.

"I don't know what to do Sophia. I'm too, um, tired, fed up, and sick to think. I'll follow your lead for now. Just let me sit down or lay down for a while?" She said. Her voice sounded soft and small. Gabi didn't sound like herself at all. Her blue eyes were bright, watery and streaked with red veins. She never followed anyone else when she had a choice. She never admitted such weaknesses. Now, for some reason she did.

Sophia said nothing to Mark, she hadn’t trusted him from the beginning and the fact that he was already heading out to do his own thing did little to surprise her. She then noted Tom and his antics at controlling the situation. She wouldn’t share a damn thing with him. She shivered at the thought of even being near him, but he had a point, the device would come in handy, though she was sure she’d find away around her father’s means of watching them. . . She couldn’t tell Tom what she wanted.

“Tom, I’d like to say you’re welcome to join us but that would be a lie. . . We all know how much we hate lying.” She rolled her eyes and looped her arm through her sister’s.

“We can talk later. Let’s just get settled in.”

Sophia noted the direction that the two guests houses were and she began to take the beautifully decorated path toward the larger of the two, hoping that Reese would follow and Tom wouldn’t, but something told her that the man wouldn’t give up easily. He never did.

Once there she took stock of the rooms, noting cameras that weren't hidden and guessing at a few locations that were probably hiding the smaller ones. She shifted nervously thinking of Tom's device. She knew eventually she'd need it. But admitting it sucked.

She found two bedrooms and chose the larger for her and her sister. “Gabi, this bedroom is the biggest. Let’s come in here and rest.” She opened the door wide and waited for her sister to come in with her.

Reese was happy here in the jungle. It felt as if they had found an oasis deep within the living vines and swamps of the world. Into the chaos was this peace of serenity.

He liked the serenity. It was wonderful. He had to stop and smell the flowers, to feel the cool grass on his bare feet. This was paradise. No wonder they wanted to stay here.

But, why did Sophia want to leave? Why did he keep feeling that in his heart? She kept looking like a caged animal, desperate to be free of the bars around her.

"Let's just stay here," he said, as soon as they got into the room, "We don't have to go anywhere. We can just stay here. We can lie in the grass and smell the flowers, and go fishing. I love to go fishing, I miss it so much. Please, come fishing with me."

He held her hand, he looked into her eyes, and he gave her the biggest cutest smile he could.
