Save Ferris.

wow....

Ever feel like you like some obscure band that not too many people know about? You tell your friends about them, but everyone is like: "Who? Never heard of them..."

RastaPope... it's cool to know there's someone else out there who likes this band. I'd ask you for all the info of what they've been up to in the last 3-4 years, but it's much easier for me to look up their website.

Thanks for refreshing this band in my mind... time to dig up the "It Means Everything" album, and look up their site.

See ya round.

FJ

Oh yeah... I used to like Reel Big Fish, too... I'll find out about them, too. If you get the chance, take a look at http://www.muchopousto.com/ ... they have mp3's and info - let me know what ya think.

Re: wow....

SF is a fantastic band.

RBF is one of my alltime favorites. Just saw them last May at the House Of Blues in chicago. They put on a hell of a show, man.

Ska ain't dead if we don't let it die.

is this the group that did the re make of Cum on Eileen?

small world...

I remember hearing about that show... I almost went to it, but I think I had something else going on that night... (don't remember what... but I know I regretted not being able to go).

You're right... I know I'm not letting it die. Though I gotta say there's one thing I don't care for: many people try to be the "authority" on it, acting like "I've been into ska longer than anyone else"... blah blah blah, and they talk of people "selling out", etc... I don't see what the big deal is. That's not what it's all about, if ya ask me. Who cares if a band makes it big and sells millions of records? Am I missing the point? Isn't that the idea? That's doesn't change the content of the music. If it did, then I could understand it... but in most cases, it doesn't. But the fact that a band gets a record deal doesn't automatically mean they've "sold out"... Not in my opinion, anyways.(does it? I sure hope not... )

Anyways... sorry to blab on... just had to get that off my chest.

I tried visiting www.saveferris.com, but it was Under Construction... I'm not sure if that was an "official" site or a fan site, so who knows. I'll be looking up RBF's info shortly.

If you have time, check out that link I posted above... would be cool to hear your input. If you want to know more than what's on the site - feel free to let me know.

Keep skankin'...

Same genre, so to speak: ska music... yeah, it's pretty much the same type of music.

No, I didn't grow up in the city. I actually live in Indiana, but I'm only about 30 mins from Chicago, so it's considered "Chicagoland"... But I do have a "familiar face". People tell me all the time that I look like someone they know. I kinda like it - it can start up lots of different, interesting conversations. It's a double-edged sword, though... sometimes I end up stuck in a going-nowhere conversation with someone I don't care to associate with. That's alright, though - I think I handle it well. ;)

Aaaaaaaanyways... hehehe

I think all the bands i consider ska are maybe classified as Old school Jamaican Soul. Hmm.

I do have a tendency to babble, but i'm working on it.

hehehe

That wasn't in any way a reference to you... I was just simply stating "the other side of the coin". :) No underlying meanings intended. ;)

By the way... are you from this area (within 100 miles), too? Just curious...

Just felt the need to toss my 2 cents up here, I just saw SF in Sacramento a short while back...and Damn I miss them too.

I was just funnin'.

I am on the north side of Chicago. I don't know how far that is from you though. I do know it can take me close to an hour to get to the south side at times. I'm about 15 min from the loop with out traffic.

So you can get to chicago from indiana in 30 minutes? I never knew.

Shit. I am babbling! Back to music.
lol

yep...

I think I've made it to the loop in 35 mins before... and made it to Comiskey a little shorter than that. I'm not right on the state line... but I'm not too far away, either. ;)

I love Save Ferris. I was not aware that they are seen as obscure, around here they're well-known.

At some point I think I liked Save Ferris but for some reason they just started irking me.

Reel Big Fish on the other hand...I still love.
