Last night was the season premier of SNL. The only good skit, IMHO was the commercial for the NRA when the 2 hunters shot the AFLAC Duck Springstein and the E Street band were excellent....The rest of the show sucked.............I must be getting old.

You're not getting old. SNL hasn't really been funny for about 10 years. It's the classic case of a show that should have been put out of its (our?) misery a long time ago, but just keeps going on inertia.

I saw about 40 seconds of it before scrambling for the remote

... and I don't typically scramble at that time of night

Yeah, I said the same thing about 15 years ago, but then the Dand Carvey, Phil Hartman, Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy years came a long, and it was good again. The potential is still there, it's a good format--hell, it's Vaudeville, as a format, it's been working one way or another for a century. Just have to have the right people. I didn't see it last night, btw.

Did you happen to catch the TV funhouse sketch? It was smurfette acting like Anna Nicole....pretty fucking funny.
