1) Anyone know when the Salem witch trials where? (need the ref. for a story I am doing).

2) What kinds of plants/trees thrive in Virginia?

The Salem witch trials were held in Massachusetts in 1692. Two excellent reference works are The Devil In Massachusetts, by Marion Starkey, and Entertaining Satan, by John Putnam Demos.

As for the flora of Virginia, you'd have to check an encyclopedia or gardening reference.

As for Virginia, I asked the question to avoid having to do the encyclopedia thing, so hopefully someone will know something!

If you're writing a story about the witch trials, they didn't burn witches at the stake in Salem (or anywhere else during the witch trials in the US that I know of). They usually hung them or drowned them (you know, if she sinks she was innocent, if she floats she's a witch so we need to hang her). Just some suggestions. People usually assume the burning at the stake thing, which in reality was used in the European Inquisitions during the Renaissance.
