Well, I'm sorry folks but it has to be said.
The Playground is changing recently from a place to come and have fun with like minded friendly people to somewhere that is far more spiteful.

What happened ?

Some of the sheer nastiness and vituperation I've read recently has been hard to believe
Isn't there more than enough of that in our lives without creating more of it in here ?

My Grandmother taught me " If you can't say something nice, then keep your mouth SHUT "
I try to live by that if I can, it works well.

She also said.....

Why waste your time and energy arguing with someone over thier opinion, post, point of view ?
Does it really matter that much to you what they think ?
There are certain people in your life whose opinions are the only ones that count, the ones you love.

Hell people, in the real world, spiteful words are just air, spat out and then they just disappear, it's only when you listeners repeat them and listen to them that you give them power

As for on here........ >>>>>>> see this........all just pixels, nothing more. You don't have to read them, you can even erase them.

So this is my two pence worth ( as we say over here )
All of us have the choice over what we read and how we reply, who we interact with and who we don't, we also have the choice of acting like polite, compassionate and friendly humans or and I'm going to be blunt here.... total arseholes.

So read this or not..... bitch at me if you wish....

The PG certainly has started to change. I've been noticing that but not said anything. I'm glad you did as I agree 100%.

I've been a lurker far longer than I've been a poster, and yes, it has changed. But, really, everything changes, and more often than not, it becomes less idyllic than we remember it to be.

I really do deal with enough drama in RL (mostly centered around work and family issues) that I refuse to deal with it here, period. If you find people that you don't care for, simply ignore them and their nastiness. I think people get so caught up in wanting to change things that they miss the simple fact that you *can't* change other people, you can only change how you react to it.

I do find it interesting, though, that a lot of these assholes justify their behavior by saying "It's only a message board," or "It's only the internet...not real people." I think the anonyminity (I can't spell that word for crap) of the internet simply allows people to show who they would be if they couldn't get caught, and that is the core of their true nature. It's interesting the archetypes that make themselves known.

Chin up, Witchy. While the PG (or any board, for that matter) does show a fairly accurate cross-section of people, take note that there are far more nice folks than there are assholes.

i have to admit, i've made a grave mistake by not taking something offline a few weeks ago. my mistake and my fault.

i agree though, i want this place to be friendly. i, for one, am going to be more careful....i promise.

Things have changed since I first came to Lit. Many have left, new faces appear. I look for the good just as in real life. Good is all that counts in the end.

Thanks Raidho and yes you're right time does colour our memories of a place or person.

Literotica has a board for people who wish to spend thier time ripping each other to pieces, not a place I want to visit, it's just a shame that some people feel the need to bring that sort of animosity to the Playground.
Hiding behind a monitor and typing away does certainly have it's downside, it seems as if the concept of good manners is very quickly disappearing, it's far easier to type spiteful words to someone than it would be to actually stand before them in person and say it

And yes, there are far more wonderful folks here than there are arseholes, this is the reason I keep coming back, because I'd hate to lose touch with the online friends I've made here and I'm quite capable of ignoring anyone who is ummm shall we say ill mannered, just to keep things polite

I've been a lurker for a long time...and recently started posting. I too am saddened by the nastiness that has developed...and not just in the playground...all over lit. People you assumed were nice and kind turn out to be some of the worst offenders.

I do agree with Raidho though...there are still some truly caring people on here. But since some see this as annonymous, their true personalities come thru...

Keep looking for the good hearted...they are here...somewhere...

I guess I've been lucky (so far) and haven't met any really nasty folks. But then, I generally don't go seeking out the idiots... Or maybe I'm just naiive - always think everyone is nice, until proven otherwise.

Agree with those who said they come here to get away from R/L. Perhaps we just choose to use our 'escape from reality' time more constructively than others. Who knows.

What I've never understood is why do people go replying to something they know is only there to incite a riot? Is it really worth getting into an argument with someone you don't know just so you can feel vindicated that you've prooven a point? Makes me wonder sometimes...
