Semi -inteligent because I am way tired - yet as much as authors write sex, they do not want to talk it ;) (current thread in point)

I know in my case, it's not a matter of don't want to talk about it, it is a matter of quantity and quality of knowledge. The majority of mine is either 20+ year old memories or what I have read here (lit). Just extremely doubtful I could contribute much to any discussion.

All of them? Or just the virgin ones?

Takes a moment to adjust a suddenly stiff piece of my anatomy.

I'm awfully flattered to keep having that effect on you, Rob.

Charley?

No. We're not.

And in fact, some of us are so tired from having wild monkey-love we don't have the energy to post about it.

....and some of us have been without so long that we can't even write about it anymore. *sigh*

My little girl is going to get sex education early next month as part of the curriculum.
You're welcome to come along. :)

I'm a doer... the whole talking this is overrated in my opinion.

Sincerely,

this WAS a semi-intelligent ask :D Ruin it - all of you! :catroar: I will be on your heels!

Then 'tis your own fault woman. You should have specified 'serious thread', although how you can have a serious conversation about such a bizarre act is beyond me.

Admittedly, a bizarre act (or should I say play, with many, many acts), that brings to some great joy and pleasure, and to others, intense pain and humiliation (not consenting humiliation, that's a whole other ball game - see what I mean??), but all the same, bizarre. Wierd. Strange.

This is a fascinating topic. Sex is the reason that we're all here, both on earth and at Lit. ;)

any authors care to talk about it?

Well, don't think I'm much of an author...and from what I've been told...one should always write about a subject with which one is familiar...so I guess I can't talk about sex <<holding back tears>>>. Perhaps ya'll won't mind if I lurk and take notes?

I've been thinking about sex as a commodity, what a perfect product it is, compared to things like automobiles or bottled milk or cinnamon-flavored breath mints.

It's addictive, so no matter how much you get, you always want more. It's relatively safe compared to other addictions, and it's universal: everyone has it, is fascinated by it, wants more of it, and pretty much becomes an addict at puberty.

It's something everyone has, so you always have some to sell. You never run out. While the idea of selling it might be offensive, we all do it, using it to negotiate for all these other things we want, like love and security and power. All of us are involved in the full time marketing of our product, and competition can be fierce. We're all concerned about truth in advertising, which seems to be in very short supply when it comes to sex.

Some of us advertise shamelessly. Some of us try to increase the value of our product by being stingy with it. Some of us try to create market demand by giving away free samples. Most of us are terribly confused when we try to determine the fair market price and spend our lives trying to determine what it is, not wanting to sell it too cheaply or set the price ridiculously high. We go through periods of over- and undervaluation, and experiences inflation and crashes in what we think our product is worth.

I won't even go into the economic arrangements we make to get it: how we invest, whether we specialize or diversify, our pricing strategy and all that.

One other thing about sex--it's the one thing we do that gives us and another person pleasure at the same exact time. That makes it pretty unique, and in fact isn't a bad definition of what sex is.
