Former Arizona GOP House Speaker Rusty Bowers, who lost his bid for a state Senate seat, said America and the Republican party are in dire straits.

"The constitution is hanging by a thread," Bowers told The Guardian in an interview published Saturday. "The funny thing is, I always thought it would be the other guys. And it's my side. That just rips at my heart: that we would be the people who would surrender the constitution in order to win an election. That just blows my mind."
Trump and his allies had sought Bower's help to overturn Arizona's election results. Bowers told The Guardian that the GOP has embraced "emotional violence."

"They've invented a new way. It's a party that doesn't have any thought. It's all emotional, it's all revenge," Bowers said of the party. "It's all anger. That's all it is."

this is why so many republicans (other than the nutjob magatites) are having a hard time coming to terms with trump's lies: they believed in him, in the republican party, in the 'dream'... and then have to swallow the bitter pill of reality: what they believed in was a fantasy, a fantasy wrought by a cheap conman and his team of accomplices, spurred on by the likes of fox news, newsmax, and oan

Yep, they will have reckon with being conned at some point

Of course it is, Democrats are in full control.

PHOENIX — Any Republican planning to run against President Trump next year might just as well skip Arizona.
House Speaker Rusty Bowers tucked a provision into the state budget that allows any political party to opt out of the state’s presidential preference primary simply by sending a notice to the Secretary of State’s Office by Sept. 16. And county election officials would be required to honor that request.

“We don’t feel we’re denying anybody a primary choice,” he said.

“We have a choice,” Bowers continued. “It’s our sitting president of the United States.”

"It’s a choice of Mr. Trump,” he said.

And after lawmakers in the House proposed a bill that would give the legislature the ability to overturn a presidential election result, Bowers effectively killed the legislation by punting it to 12 different committees.

"I was trying to send a definitive message: this is hogwash," Bowers told The Guardian in an interview published Monday. "Taking away the fundamental right to vote, the idea that the legislature could nullify your election, that's not conservative. That's fascist. And I'm not a fascist."

addressing the pressure campaign against him that led protestors to accumulate outside his house:
"I never had the thought of giving up," Bowers told the Guardian. "No way. I don't like bullies. That's one constant in my life: I. Do. Not. Like. Bullies."
