It made the news up here a few years ago that there was a large increase in Romanian girls getting work visas due to shortage of labour in the exotic dancer market. For a time there were dark haired sloe-eyed Romanian girls in every club. Proliferation of lap dancing made the job distasteful to many Canadian girls. Used to be there were Quebec girls in every club.

Lap dancing has killed strip clubs.

I ran into a guy (old, fat, balding) near San Francisco with a mail-order south-east Asian bride. He was offering her sexually to workers who came to their home. Not a pleasant scene. Don't know how they worked out. Don't care.

What's the horror-story vs. happy-ever-after ratio of mail-order brides? There's likely some studies somewhere.

Plus I tend to prefer brown hair and dark eyes, which are not as common in that part of the world.

1.Then you forgot about Olga Kurylenko. She isn't that great of an actress, but I saw her in Centurion and she did both some amazing acting and she looked bad-ass smoking hot.

2.Concerning russian men: As far as physical attributes are concerned, I'm on the same page.
But there's something refreshingly honest and humorous about their personality, which I find attractive. Take Putin, for instance. He isn't exactly the runway model type, but his demeanour and style are both refreshing and attractive.

I met quite a few of them, and I had excellent experiences with most of them, and they were warm and funny too. I think that people misinterpret their style and sense of humour.

I can say the same thing that RenardRusse said about the other Eastern Europeans that one often comes across here, tho: serbs. I met a few, and their style came across as being a bit cold and arrogant to me.

I have drunk with many Russians in Russia and elsewhere. My experiences have been positive. Even the whores at the bar at the Rossiya Hotel in Moscow were nice to chat with.

My 'local' coworkers had a similarly good impression of them, and they viewed them with both benevolence and amusement. They are often fun to be around.

Speaking of russians:

Ever seen a brittish producer and actors trying to capture the russian exuberance and spirit?
I remember seeing the movie "The music lovers" -starring Richard Chamberlain as Tchaikovsky- and I thought to myself: 'What a trainwreck!'
(And I would have thought the same thing if it were the other way around too - a russian movie about americans or brits. - Now That would have actually been worth a chuckle.)

I guess some cultures aren't that compatible.
