For the Runners:

One thing is that I've not seen any threads related to running on Lit. This could be because running and sex aren't typically related unless:

1) A lover is discovered by a spouse and needs to quickly escape
2) It's the morning after a very enebriated night and you don't know who you're sleeping next to
3) You were told by a lover or significant other that if you don't lose weight, you don't get any more nookie
4) You were asked to marry someone and the answer wasn't "yes"
5) You asked someone to marry you and after they said "Yes" you met their mother and realized that is how she will look in 30 years
6) You looked into your lover's "box of sex toys" and found guns, knives, rope, a shovel, a map to a remote location, and a picture of you with your face scribbled out

That list isn't complete, so feel free to add other situations! On a related note, I'd like to see other runners/joggers/walkers who enjoy the "sport" and how it has helped in their sex life, regular life, a previous life, or have even been told to "get a life".

Hopefully this can also be used as a thread for help on running, whether beginner or advanced, as discussion of running for any purpose, or as a place where we can all throw out random thoughts for no reason at all. ;)

Looking forward to it!
Joe

It's winter...my running is exclusive to on the treadmill here at home or the gym...OR I suppose chasing livestock. -grin-

I know there's a few others who are dedicated to it...and have the climate for year round unlike me.

Since taking up running last year I have found my enjoyment of sex is increased... but I'm not sure why. :D

This just made me spit my tea.... too damned funny :D

GL with the thread :)

I need to start running again, but the shoulder gives me grief every time I try

Running Thoughts

Afternoon!

I recently completed the Goofy Challenge at Walt Disney in Orlando, FL, that consists of running a half marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday and a full marathon (26.2) miles on Sunday. During the roughly 9 hours spent running, many things occurred to me that I thought I'd share.

  • Most people avoid pain, runners seem to take the Express Train to Pain.
  • Marathons are a test to see if you are a sadist.
  • Marathon organizers are masochists.
  • Runners either want to get in shape, or punish their bodies for something it's done in the past.
  • If anyone ever suggests a "sex marathon" make sure that you realize it may involve a First Aid station at some point.
  • "No Pain, No Gain" doesn't really apply to running. It should say "Lots of Pain, but Still End Up Where You Started".
  • Long distance running is the best way to ensure sex is out of the question for several hours after you're done.
  • People run marathons but are unable to even walk for at least one day afterwards, balancing the equation.
  • If an ice bath seems like a good idea, you've been running too much.
  • Unless you lack a car or public transportation, there's no real justification for a marathon.
  • You don't run marathons, marathons run you....into pain.
  • Ever spectator will say "Great job, you're looking good!" They are all liars.
  • Jenny hated Forrest Gump. You can tell when she said "Run, Forrest, Run". He was in knee braces and running hurts. The rest of the movie after that just proves she was a bitch. ;)
  • The only definition of a runner is that you are outside moving at a pace that other people see and don't say "I should really start doing that soon."

Yes, this is what I do with my spare time during running. ;) What about you?

Treadmill = Going Nowhere FAST

I personally can't run on a treadmill. No matter now fast I run, I don't seem to go anywhere. I ran for hours and hours...then looked down at the timer on the treadmill and it said 5 minutes. It's the closest I've come to time travel and I don't recommend it. ;) It's a time warp trap!

I'd recommend keeping up the running any way you can, even if you prefer the treadmill. ;)

Sexual Running

Since taking up running last year I have found my enjoyment of sex is increased... but I'm not sure why. :D

Violet,

This is actually pretty common. Your body uses oxygen better, you're not panting as much from the effort (which distracts from being in the moment), and your body realizes that it will make anything feel better and be more enjoyable, as long as you're not making it run when it doesn't want to do so ;)

I don't prefer it...but it's risking limbs if I try to run in the snow and on icy roads. The treadmill is the only option for winters in Canada.

I have come to the realization that with the exception of an occasional glance upwards, I must remain looking downwards or at the floor, road, base of the treadmill. If not I become disoriented or loose focus and trip or stumble.

Everybody Jump!

I've been meaning to start running but always something comes up.

Hmm.....you mean "something comes up" that you want to jump on top of? Or some other activity that takes more precedence? Based on your avatar, I'd bet it's the first one. ;)

Running on green............yellow f50 ball ay my feet, snug Copa's on each foot, threaded with knots under the tongue of my cleats. I run with a purpose, freedom at my feet, strides of length, yet the ball stays close. My purpose? Not to nail an upper 90's shot, but to go down the line, hit the far right sideline, send one in, deep inside the 18 yard box......a voyeurs windowsill. For the beauty of fire when your teammate scores, you can see the entire reaction.....your team, the stands of proud families..............only to sprint back and do it all again.

Corbal... I'm one of the parents on the sideline!! I can so envision every word.

Alas am a solo runner. I can relate to some of RunningMate's comments....
but I am a bit more shallow.... I run to Justin Timbertake's sexy songs and keep one foot on front of the other - too many days in between and I could shoot someone... - I use running as a release all for myself

I'm a solo runner the majority of the time, as well; however, Justin Timberlake encourages me to run in the other direction, so I guess it could be considered inspiration ;) Ahhh, and I run one foot in front of the other, too, looks like we have 1.5 things in common!

Can't tell for sure, but by your screen name, would you happen to go to UF? I'm an alumni, they have great areas for running, very scenic. If not, at least we can still be friends. =)

I begin each day with a 6 mile run on the sand, and yes the cardio benefits go without saying, but I run mostly for MY mind........the first 3 miles are a time to go over the day that had just passed, to sort, catalogue and get some closure; the last 3 miles are to set up the day ahead.....

I have run w/ my at the time current dog each day over the years......They love the morning ritual, well at least I think they do.

I've competed in many 10K's and one half marathon.....but I don't enjoy them nearly as much as the balance and re-setting of my chi each morning

I need to start running again, but the shoulder gives me grief every time I try

I'm not exactly a physical therapist or even an expert on kinesiology but if your shoulder hurts when running, give this remedy a cure: Try running using your feet, instead of on your shoulders........God the abrasions must be awful

Sad to see that this thread isn't being kept up. I'd hoped to find other runners here.

What kinds of running do you two do? Do you just run for the fun of it, run occasional 5Ks and 10Ks, or do you train to do personal bests every time out?
I'm a member of a local athletics club, so I run competitively as well as for fun. I take part in road races, cross-country, track and field meetings (100m/200m) as well as training runs twice a week (typically 5-6 miles each). Most of my measured races are 5km or 10km, but I completed my first half-marathon last year and I'm intending to do another this Spring.

It's tempting to try for a Personal Best on every outing, but I've learnt from experience and injuries that it's not realistic or sensible to do so. :)
